Chapter 10

He spoke, clutching his chest.

He looked weak and helpless, a transparent attempt to win my sympathy.

I let out a cold laugh. "Julian Croft, it's impossible between us."

His face drained of color, and he suddenly dropped to his knees before me, his forehead pressed to the ground.

"I'm so sorry, Sera. I truly realize my mistakes now. Please, I'm begging you, forgive me."

"I can't live without you! Sera, without you, I'll die!"

I sneered, "Then go ahead and die. You deserve it, anyway."

My words made Julian freeze.

He stared, his voice laced with disbelief. "Sera, do you really hate me this much?"

"Yes, I hate you. So stay away from me."

"Even after I took a knife for you, you still can't forgive me?!"

"No."

"So even if my father's debt collectors are about to hack me to death, you still won't care?!"

"I won't care."

Tears welled in Julian's eyes. "Sera, is there truly no going back for us?"

My patience snapped. "You're insufferable. Can you just get lost?"
