He busied himself with Sera’s birthday party, a massive affair. He leveraged his connections to get a famous band to play and even hired the singer she liked. He spent millions on the party just to make her smile.


Ironically, the money he used was all from me.


When he married me, his gaming company, Elysian Dynamics, was on the verge of bankruptcy. I helped him, liquidating my trust fund for him. I even sold my family’s Boston home.


Once he had the capital, he managed his company without worry. It came back from the red, and after they launched their game, it became an overnight sensation.


He became a new titan of the business world, and I was sincerely happy for him.


But all the help I gave him turned into knives that stabbed me.


After Sera left to study abroad, she quickly found a rich European man. Then, three months ago, things soured in her relationship, and she returned, heartbroken.
