Chapter 12: Be Sincere With Me

It was bright morning just like every other day, Xavier was in his sitting room lost in his thoughts, unlike other days when he would leave for work already by seven thirty A.M he was still at home not minding the fact that it was almost ten A.M.

The past few days have been hell for him, he had organized a meeting with all his clients who had ordered some goods from him and didn't receive it because the goods were in the ships that sank.

His main plan was to plead with them to have a little patience with him while he find a solution to the issue on hand, but unfortunately for him, things didn't go as he planned, none of the clients even paid a listening ear to his pleas, on the contrary they all requested for a refund and some of them even threatened to sue him to court if he didn't refund them as soon as possible.

Seeing the bad image the issue was having on the company, the only option he was left with was to refund them in order to avoid being sued to court because that will only tarnish the image of his company more.

Two days after the meeting, he refunded all the clients but the main issue at hand is how he is going to prevent the company from plunging into bankruptcy, even though it hasn't plunged yet, he knew it won't be long before it plunges in, after all that's what everyone have been discussing about including in the news.

As he was still thinking about the next move he will take, Claudia who had just entered the sitting room approached him and tapped him on the shoulder, jolting him back to reality.

"Are you okay?" Claudia asked him with a furrowed brows.

"Yes of course, why do you ask?" He asked her.

"You seem lost, you didn't even notice when I came down," she said to him.

"Ooh, I was just thinking about something," he said to Claudia who sat down on the sofa opposite to him.

"So any information about the culprit?" Claudia asked him.

"Nothing yet, but we are still searching," he said to her.

"Well I know that you won't believe me and just as usual, you will still think that I'm making up stories; but believe me or not Sarah was behind it," she said to him.

"I thought we have discussed about this Sarah issue? If you are too sure that she was the one who did it that means that you have a proof that justifies your affirmation or am I wrong?" He asked her.

"Well I don't have any but..."

"No but Claudia, I'm already going through a tough time, so please don't add to it and please don't go around spreading false rumors about Sarah, you might end up getting yourself into trouble," Xavier said to Claudia before standing up and taking his suitcase.

"Where are you going?" She asked Xavier who was already heading towards the exit.

"Where else will I go to if it's not to work?" He asked her without turning around.

"What about breakfast, aren't you having some, the meals on the dining table are untouched," she said to him.

"I'm not hungry," he said to her before walking out.

Once he came out, hus driver who was waiting for him in the car came down and opened the door for him, once he entered, the driver closed the door before entering in the driver's side and zooming off.

"Please pull over when we get to the next restaurant," Xavier said to the driver who nodded in reply.

After some minutes of driving, the driver stopped in front of the restaurant, before he could come down to open the door, Xavier had already come down himself and was already walking towards the entrance of the restaurant, with that, he returned to the car.

Once Xavier walked into the restaurant, he scanned the restaurant with his eyes in order to see where he would sit down and no one would notice him, especially this past few days that his images have been floating from one social media to the other and from one television to the other as the CEO of the company that's on the brinks of bankruptcy.

After looking around for some minutes, he saw one empty chair where he could sit and behind was also a lady who was backing the chair where he wanted to sit.

Without hesitating he walked towards the chairs but as he was about to walk past the lady, he noticed that it was Sarah, she was too occupied with her phone that she didn't even see him.

After staring at her for some minutes, he cleared his throat in order to get her attention, without hesitating Sarah raised her head up only to meet the gaze of the man who had made her to be where she is actually.

"Good morning Sarah how are you?" Xavier asked her while stretching out his hand for a handshake.

"I'm good Mr. Quim, it's been a while," Sarah said to him before withdrawing her hand from his.

"Yes it's been a while, can I sit down?" Xavier asked her while pointing at the chair.

"Yes of course, as long as it doesn't stop your company from going bankrupt," Sarah said to him sarcastically but Xavier pretended as if he didn't hear it.

"What are you doing here all alone? As I can see you aren't eating or something like that? Xavier said to her.

"Actually I'm waiting for a client, or should I say a client of yours that's now my client," Sarah said to Xavier's who furrowed his brows at her.

"I don't understand," Xavier said to her.

"I said that I'm waiting for Mr. Charles, the client you failed to close a deal with," Sarah said to him with a smirk.

"To sincere, that's strange, you sound as if you have been waiting for me to fail to close the deal with him so that you can take over," Xavier said to Sarah who smiled at him.

"As you know, we are all doing a business here, Mr Charles is a potential client, you had the opportunity to close a deal with him, a deal that could have pumped a very huge amount of money into your company but you failed to do it and now I'm going to do everything to close the deal with him and fortunately, I'm going to do it before you," she said to him with a wicked smirk.

"I want to ask you a question and please I want you to be sincere with me, do you have anything to do with the sinking of my ships?" Xavier asked Sarah and immediately she furrowed her brows at him in surprise.
