Start As Friends?

Inside the Sunset Bar.

Colby walked into the bar with Ophelia, Farrah, and Taylor, then casually found a sofa booth with a minimum spend of over $2,000 and sat down.

"Brother Colby, doesn't that guy over there look familiar?" Chasel, who was sitting next to Colby, noticed Brentley not far away.

"Isn't that Brentley? What's he doing here?" Taylor also spotted Brentley chatting with Wynter, a hint of confusion flashing in her beautiful eyes.

"Haha, who would have thought that poor kid Brentley could afford to come here? And he even got a sofa booth like us. What's up with him lately? It's like he's a completely different person..." Chasel muttered, pouting.

Colby overheard Chasel's comment and felt a wave of discomfort. He had brought his friends to Sunset Bar and booked a $2,000 minimum spend sofa booth, thinking it would give him some face. But seeing Brentley with a similar booth made him feel less special.

Meanwhile, Ophelia squinted at Wynter, who was chatting happily with Brentley. Wynter's outfit, looks, and aura completely overshadowed Ophelia, making her feel very uneasy. She had just broken up with Brentley a few days ago, and now he was at the bar with a girl even prettier than her. This sight ignited Ophelia's jealousy.

"Brentley is probably on a date with that girl!" Farrah suddenly remarked.

"Farrah, are you kidding? Who in the entire Sunshire City University doesn't know what kind of person Brentley is? Besides Ophelia, who was a bit foolish before, what other girl would date someone like Brentley?" Taylor replied dismissively, seemingly having forgotten how Brentley had saved her from Jaxson not long ago.

Farrah glanced at Brentley, hesitating to speak. After all, she had never told anyone about that night at the hotel. Since then, she had a feeling that Brentley was far more complicated than they had thought.

"There's no way a girl from Sunshire City University would date Brentley, but what if the girl isn't from our university?" Colby suddenly spoke up.

Everyone paused at Colby's words, then quickly understood his point.

"Brentley must be pretending to be a rich kid to impress a girl who doesn't know about his real situation!" Chasel exclaimed.

"Heh..." Colby couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. He had been looking for a chance to get back at Brentley for a while now, but the opportunity had never presented itself, until now. There was no way Colby would let this chance slip by.

"Brother Colby, should I go over there and expose Brentley right now?" Chasel asked eagerly.

"No rush. Let's wait. I want to humiliate him just when he's about to succeed. That will be much more satisfying," Colby replied with a sinister smile.

Everyone understood Colby's plan and nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Brentley and Wynter were getting to know each other. Wynter found Brentley's personality to be quite pleasant, and he was also good-looking. Most importantly, Brentley didn't seem like the typical smooth-talking guy, which made Wynter feel that he was trustworthy. Naturally, her impression of Brentley improved significantly.

Although Wynter couldn't possibly develop feelings for Brentley just from a casual conversation, at least she didn't feel any resistance towards interacting with him.

Throughout their chat, Wynter maintained a gentle smile on her face.

Brentley, on the other hand, had a very positive impression of Wynter. However, he was unsure if Wynter would still speak to him with the same attitude if she knew he was broke.

Tyree, Graham, seeing that Brentley and Wynter were getting along well, felt genuinely happy.

But Tabitha was far from pleased.

Tabitha never expected Wynter to show no signs of disdain towards Brentley. She was torn about whether to reveal Brentley's true financial status to Wynter once they returned to their dorm.

Even though Tabitha didn't want others to know she had a friend like Brentley, she couldn't bear to see her best friend being deceived by someone she considered a loser.

"Wynter, I heard you don't have a boyfriend, right?" Graham suddenly asked Wynter with a cheerful smile.

Wynter was surprised by Graham's question and softly replied, "Yeah, I haven't met the right person, so I'm not in a relationship..."

"You're so pretty; there must be a lot of people chasing after you!"

Graham grinned and continued, "Well, Brentley is my best buddy. I know his character very well. He recently broke up with his ex-girlfriend. Why don't you two give it a try?"

"Graham, what are you talking about? Wynter and Brentley just met today. They barely know each other. What do you mean by 'give it a try'?" Tabitha protested loudly.

Graham turned to look at Tabitha, a hint of frustration in his eyes. He hadn't expected her to undermine him at this moment.

"I also think that Brentley and I just met. We can start as friends first..." Wynter added politely. She hesitated for a moment and then said, "You're right. It's your first time meeting today; starting as friends is a good idea."

Graham grinned, showing his teeth, and then gave Brentley a gentle push. "Brentley, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and add Wynter on WeChat. You two should hang out more when you have the time."

Hearing Graham's words, Wynter seemed to agree with the idea of adding Brentley on WeChat. She gracefully took out her phone from her designer bag and opened the app.

Brentley looked at Wynter, hesitated for a moment, and then instinctively took out his phone.

In fact, Brentley had a pretty good impression of Wynter. She was better in terms of looks, figure, and even personality compared to his previous girlfriend, Ophelia. Although she couldn't compare to someone like Claire, who was on a goddess level, Claire had shown no interest in Brentley. He wasn't the type to cling to one person, so he decided to add Wynter on WeChat.

Brentley planned to tell Wynter right away that he was broke and see how she would react. If Wynter didn't mind, Brentley wouldn't be opposed to getting to know her better. But if she turned her back on him, he wouldn't waste any more time on her.

"Well, well, who do we have here? Isn't it Brentley?"

Just as Brentley was about to add Wynter on WeChat, a girl suddenly walked up to him with a sarcastic tone.
