Chapter 48: Acheron, the Goddess Who Keeps to Her Principles

"How exactly did you deal with her?"

Hera gave Eros a suspicious look.

Her tone sounded way too much like someone accusing him of an illicit affair.

Eros's face darkened.

"She's clearly got some bizarre misunderstanding. All I said was that I'd speak to her later!"

Seriously, how did that even sound like an invitation?

To squash the misunderstanding right away, Eros grabbed Amphitrite and pulled her closer.

"Acheron, the ritual's already over?"

He greeted her with a smile, making a deliberate show of intimacy with Amphitrite, subtly signaling: I already have a girl, thanks.

Outside the car, Acheron wasn't in her towering, two-to-three-meter-tall form from the plaza. Instead, she now stood about the same height as Eros.

Seeing that he wasn't alone, she gave Amphitrite a careful once-over.

She hadn't met her before, but it wasn't hard to tell. This was one of her younger sisters, a daughter of Oceanus, one of the Oceanid goddesses.

"Oh, so you like this kind of thing? That's fine. I can be the middle one or the one in the back."

Acheron smiled meaningfully.

You damn silver bug.

Eros was speechless. These people had nothing but filth in their heads.

"Huh? So neither position works for you? Interesting…"

Acheron then turned to Amphitrite in surprise.

She didn't expect her soft-spoken little sister to be the one doing the dominating.

And that meant the bold, masculine Eros was the one being dominated?

As expected of someone favored by the King of the Gods. You really play hard.

Amphitrite didn't get the implication, but Eros definitely did.

"Enough with your twisted fantasies, unless you want to be struck by lightning."

As his fingers sparked with electricity and a divine presence crackled around him, Acheron finally reined herself in a bit.

Looks like this "lover of Zeus" identity did carry some weight.

Once she stopped joking around, Eros let the lightning fizzle out.

"Acheron, I actually came to you with a serious proposal."

His expression turned solemn.

"Would you like to become the most dazzling goddess of the ocean?"

"Huh?"

Acheron blinked. Hera, still hiding in the car, suddenly felt like that line sounded oddly familiar.

"You've probably heard of the new fashion trend taking over the Abyssal Capital, right?"

With that prompt, Acheron finally remembered why she'd invited Eros in the first place.

Wasn't it because she'd heard about this rising wave of aesthetic revolution he was leading?

Not that it mattered anymore. She'd completely forgotten about that once she saw him in person.

"But what does that have to do with anything?"

"Everything. Clothes may not change your face, but they definitely boost your appeal."

Hera felt a shiver of déjà vu.

This really was a repeat of that day.

Sure enough, Eros showcased some of his designs, just like before.

No goddess could resist the temptation to become more alluring. Unless...

"…Okay, that's actually pretty effective."

The stat boost from the outfit didn't lie. Eros's clothes did amplify charm.

But Acheron's thought process veered off the rails quickly.

"Still, I don't really care about being the center of attention."

"Actually, maybe if I made all my servants wear these…"

Instead of improving herself, Acheron preferred to dominate others.

No matter how attractive she became, it's not like she could seduce herself, right?

Eros sighed as his carefully prepared pitch crumbled to dust.

Why were all these people so obsessed with domination?

"Wait, you mean… so you can dominate even more people?"

"Well, good looks don't really matter. In the Silver Whirlpool, I can sleep with whoever I want. No one dares resist me."

Disgusting, Eros thought.

He truly hated all these power-tripping, libido-driven silver bugs.

Crushing others with authority and calling it love... they all needed to be wiped out.

"Unless… if I get hotter, you might sleep with me?"

Acheron's eyes sparkled as she licked her lips and stared straight at Eros.

She hadn't changed targets. From the start, she'd had just one goal:

Dominate, or be dominated.

That was the very essence of the Silver Whirlpool.

So this is what a true silver bug looks like...

Eros was humbled by her unfiltered intensity.

Anywhere, anytime — all she thought about was domination.

Her purity? He had to respect that.

"Alright, fine. I'll be honest. Oceanus gave me a mission."

Eros rolled up his sleeve, revealing the glowing sigil left by the ancient Titan.

"Your father wants to resolve the tensions brewing in the seas.

His plan? Marry off one of his daughters to Poseidon."

"And the chosen bride…"

He pointed straight at her.

"Me?"

"Exactly. Oceanus has tasked me with making you the most dazzling goddess in the ocean, to prepare you for your role as Queen of the Seas."

Aside from getting the candidate wrong, everything else actually aligned with Oceanus's intentions.

And Acheron? She could believe that. Her father would pull something like this.

"If I become Queen of the Seas, I'll have access to divine authority over the oceans.

Not just the Silver Whirlpool... I could turn the entire ocean into my playground."

"So what do you say, Acheron? Going to say no to that?"

Eros had a keen instinct for manipulation.

He'd honed in on the one thing she cared about — total control over who she could "conquer."

As expected, Acheron showed visible interest.

"Will I get to dominate you too? Or… you'll dominate me?"

"…Huh?"

Eros was at a loss.

Why was she so obsessed with him, specifically?

"I mean, come on, Eros. You don't want to fail your mission from Father Ocean, do you?"

And now she was twisting it into blackmail.

"I don't know the details, but I do know you're screwed if I say no."

She crossed her arms with a smirk.

"I'm not against it. But if you want my cooperation… you gotta give me something."

"Sleep with me, and I'll agree."

Faced with this dangerous offer, what did Eros do?

"Well, I guess I don't have a choice.

But at the very least... let's do it in the car."

Eros sighed. He motioned for Amphitrite to get in first, then pointed behind him.

Bingo.

Acheron barely managed to suppress her excitement as she stepped into the car.

And right then, she froze.

Sitting inside... was Hera.

Another one?! What is this, Goddess Jenga?!

She didn't even get a second to react before-

"Phantom Demon Emperor Fist!"

Eros's voice echoed from behind.
