Under the relentless, scorching sun, Kael toils in the cotton fields, each blister a silent prayer for the woman he loves and the child growing inside her. Forced into the merciless cages, he fights not by choice, but because if he refuses, his wife will be sold or worse, killed. Every strike he lands is a blow against his people, fellow slaves forced into bloodshed for the cruel amusement of others. The weight of each life taken crushes his soul. One night, after another brutal fight, Kael returns to find his wife in labor, weakened and bleeding under the unforgiving sun. She dies, along with their unborn child. Devastated and broken, Kael’s world shatters. In a final act of raw fury and desperate grief, he kills the man who held them captive and flees into the darkness, a bounty on his head and vengeance in his heart.
