The afternoon sky was tainted orange a signal of the arrival of the settings sun.
Having fled from home due to his unwillingness to pay for Dorothy's pizza, he now sat rested on a bench beside a bus stop.
Watching passengers get off and on the buses, he leaned further in the bench, his gaze on the sky.
"I wonder how long to the next city."
He wasn't thinking of ditching town or anything, he was merely curious about what laid beyond Orchids and Soloris as a whole.
He knew of powerhouse countries like the United Coast states, a federation of states to the Western part of the continent, then the nation of Avalon along the holy country of Elyuism.
He had seen how most of them looked like through the Internet and he wanted to step foot on them one day.
"Are you an adventurer?"
As he lazied around, a cold voice cut of his thought process. Glancing at the unfamiliar face whom had found a sit beside him, his pupil's narrowed and his pulse quicken.
"How did..."
"I speak and you answer!"
The stranger, a white haired girl with moonlight skin and ocean blue eyes said in a commanding tone.
She was dressed like any other teenagers, causal and eyecatch but the way she carried herself.
From posture to mere gesture showcase a sense of discipline that could only be attained after years of training and acting.
As he stared at her breathless, her fingers rested on her leather jeans twitched unnaturally.
"Are you an adventurer?" She questioned again their time her voice full of urgency.
Curious about her identity,he nod in response.
"Good! What rank?"
"E but nearly D."
"Excellent!" She grinned her eyes focusing solely on him. As if assessing.
"You class what is it?"
"Well Wave controller."
"Element."
"Frost wind!"
"I'll never head of that one." She muttered, grabbing her chin in suspicion.
"It's something unquie to me."
"I see...well as long as it offers it's uses I will not question it."
Patting her thighs, her grin shifted into a cold mask while her eyes sharp and calculating reflected him.
"I have an offer for you. Will you accept or not?"
"It depends."
"I hate indecisiveness nor do I offer second chances. Do with that what you want."
Felix almost face palmed at the sheer arrogance emitting from the white haired girl.
What did she expect him to do, bend over for her because she had a commission when he didn't even know what she wanted.
He might he bored but he wasn't naive enough to take every offer handed to him.
"Frankly speaking miss...."
"Aqua."
"... okay miss Aqua. You want an adventurer for a commission. Based on you mana allone I'll concluded you're stronger than me hence I'm left to wonder why hire someone far weaker than you."
"Observant but that is not you concern. I speak and you response not deduce."
"You except me to step into something I know nothing about." He scoffed finding her words almost offensive.
"You seem to be under the assumption you're the only one I want." She furrowed finding his nonchalant attitude unbecoming.
"Trying to rope me in by reverse psychology won't work." Felix playfully cracked his fingers causing Aqua's expression to strain a bit.
"You buffoon. You think I'll waste my intellect on you." She excalimed almost in shock only for Felix to shut her up with a glance.
"With a trash attitude like yours no wonder the others would reject you." He taunted.
"....What do you mean by others?"
"When someone wants an adventurer for hire. They go to the guild but I'm sure you attitude of confidentiality led to you request being rejected. Hence you registered for a more traditional form of hiring. You go around looking for adventurers. Meeting higher level ones would be difficult but lower ranks like me are easy to find. Among them you met cautious ones whom were too wary to accept you offer, hotheaded one's insulted by you trash behavior among others. By coincidence and let's just say luck you found me. You last hope hence the urgent look you're trying so much to hide.."
" You are you a..."
" No I'm not a stalker. It's just characters like you are easy to read."
That was honestly a lie, he had heard rumors about a stranger going around and offering commissions to adventurers.
It has become an urban legend among adventure approximately a week ago, long enough for him to gather information about it out of curiosity.
Clap!
"Impressive."
Contrary to humiliation all Aqua showed was intrigued as she clapped at his observation.
"So will you tell me about the commission."
"Sigh...I guess."
Frankly she didn't want to. She had her reason to why but she was also smart enough to know as long as she was this secretive her objectives would never be meet.
"The commission is for a ruin exploration."
"I see so that's why you didn't want any high rank Adventurers."
"...."
"You're afraid if the ruin holds anything value. They could rob it from you."
Basically he wasn't being hired because he was impressive but because he was the exact opposite.
Weak enough to not pose as a threat when a discovery was made but strong enough to offer some support.
"Ruins huh? I take it, it's clearable."
"That's for me to know."
"If that's what you say fine but I'm not risking my neck for small cash. Whether it's clearable or not, it's still a ruin almost as unpredictable as dungeons and towers. So..."
"10 million credit! Half for merely accepting and the other half for the completion of the commission. If we find something value an extra will be paid to you for surrending owners of the valuables to me. So what do you say?"
Clasping her hands together, an enigmatic glint flashed within her eyes her dull ocean blue eyes.
Flabbergasted by the huge numbers he heard,Felix on the otherhand showed an expression of worry at the kind of job that would get him five times more than him killing a B rank Necromancer.
