Chapter 27

Julian finally snapped back to the present, his hand tightening around Aria’s. “Silly girl, of course I’m going to marry you!”

In truth, Julian was just as anxious about their return. Six months ago, he had orchestrated her disappearance with the cold intention of forging her into a weapon for his revenge, a beautiful tool to be wielded against his brother.

He had always felt a certain affection for Aria, but it had been the platonic love one feels for a younger sister. To his own shock, over the past six months, that affection had twisted and deepened into a possessive, romantic obsession.

He found himself plagued by a new fear: the worry that Aria would one day uncover the truth, and that the love he had manufactured would curdle into a hatred that would make her leave him forever.
