Ezekiel panted as he leaned on the tree beside him. He felt his muscles scream at him to rest, yet he couldn't stop his training for long, he was only given a short breathing time after all. Even as a Mechanic, he had to exercise to strengthen his body. His equipment could be powerful, yet they could also potentially harm him if his body was too weak to handle the stress. So he had made it a regular habit to exercise every day.
He sighed in relief after completing his run and falling onto the soft grass, leaning on the wall behind him. As he sat, one could easily notice the glow on the cream painted wall behind him. It drew a pattern as if there were a device running along his spine.
There was. If he took his shirt off, people would see a device emitting an amethyst colored light as it siphoned the ambient mana from his surrounding, generating a soft whirring sound while it converted the mythical energy into Ezekiel's desired energy, Psionic Energy.
This was the product of his gruesome and painstaking time spent in his workshop, The Mana Converter Reactor, MCR for short. He had originally wanted to create it as a circular device placed on his chest but decided against it, due to the fact that it was quite taxing to spread the transmitters to his respective weapons if it were placed at an unconventional area like his chest.
And that the idea had been taken by an ancient movie from his past world.
So he had created it in a fashion that allowed it to run across his spine. Along with the MCR, he had managed to find the materials needed for the other blueprints given to him by the system and created the machinery. He had also created some devices that resided within his mind. Although without the actual blueprints, it had taken a lot of trial and error to actually create them.

The Mechanic had discovered that he could gain Exp by training, but that discovery hadn't left him happy at all. Because he realized that if the amount of Exp he gained through defeating his opponents the same amount gained through training, then it would take forever for him to grow stronger. After all, he had only gained 86 Exp after 2 long gruesome years of training.
He sighed once more, seeing the slow progress he was making. Normal children awaken by 10 but geniuses awakened around the age of 5 to 8 so he had to get a head start now that he had the chance to.
He glanced to the side, spotting a suitcase he had placed prior to his training and stretching his body to the side and grabbing an item from within it. It seemed to be a golden liquid in a glass vial and upon seeing it, Ezekiel smiled not hesitating to down its content.
Immediately after, a relaxing sensation washed over him causing the Mechanic to almost moan. The vial was a Healing elixir, made by light or spirit type Mages or Seers. A common potion sold on the streets, although the quality varied depending on the shop or store one would buy it from.
And of course, as the Earl's son, the quality of the elixir he drank was good enough to heal his sore muscles and physical fatigue.
After the sensations ended, Ezekiel yawned. "Hah~ If only it could partially relieve me of mental fatigue too." But he knew that was impossible, so he brushed the thought away. "I'll get some shut eye. Laura keep an eye out for my parents please."
The feminine voice, which he had named Laura, sighed in exasperation. (I can't believe this. A great True AI like myself, reduced to a degrading watch duty.)
'I said please, didn't I?' His mental thought reached her causing her to sigh once more.
(Sure, go ahead. I'll inform you when they're near.) The Mechanic immediately fell asleep after that, not bothering to even get off the grass.
Unfortunately for the poor, tired Ezekiel, her voice rang loudly in his head the next second. (Dodge!)
He immediately stood up, grabbing his suitcase and scrambling to the side just in time to dodge an explosion that originated from his previous position. And because he wasn't really fast, wisps of the flames had managed to burn off his clothes and cause some slight burns to his now exposed skin.
Once safe and away from the flames, he glanced back looking at the black ash that stained the wall where he rested. 'It seems like my reaction speed is still lacking. I'll have to work on that.'
He ended his thoughts as he stared at the source of the attack, identifying the approaching figure as a man. The man was an average looking Awakened, dressed in the lowest possible gear money could buy and with the ability to control fire. He smiled brutally while looking at the technician with an unhidden bloodlust in his eyes. "Lucky! How lucky, I get to cash in on killing the weak ass heir of the Earl. Come on now, die already, I've been looking to change my gear for a long time now. Hehe."
Ezekiel's mind raced while he kept a poker face on the outside. He didn't believe that such a weak F ranked Awakened could have managed to sneak past his guards, who were all at the E rank higher. 'This means…' He glanced at the assailant once more and smirked. 'They're testing me!'
There was no way, such a weak character could sneak past his family's guard patrol. The only plausible reason was that his parents had allowed him to get in. Hell, they might have even been the ones who had set a bounty on his head.
Thinking up to this point, he stood up slowly, his smirk becoming more and more prominent. 'And I'll make sure to pass magnificently.' The Mechanic opened his suitcase, retrieving the items inside as fast as possible.
The first to leave the suitcase was a pair of boots with a metallic sheen colored white with golden streaks running along their edges.
"Heh. A mere Forger and you wish to go against a Mage?! Still, you think I'll allow you take time to use your tricks?" The man smiled, stretching out his palm and conjuring a large ball of fire that flew towards Ezekiel. "Fire magic: Large Fire Ball!"
Unfortunately for him, his chant had taken too long and the Mechanic had already worn his machinery. A thin tube exited the MCR, running along his body to connect with the legwear, making the golden lines shine brighter. Seeing the approaching fire ball, he jumped to the side but still appeared to be within its range yet he seemed to be aided by a burst of amethyst flames that erupted beneath his soles, quickening his agility and allowing him to completely dodge the attack.
"Hehe, how is it, Laura?" Ezekiel rolled off the grass, dissipating the remaining momentum behind his speed and staring playfully at the Mage.
"You! What… what was that?! No normal F rank Forger should be able to do that!" The assailant displayed obvious fear as he looked at the Mechanic. He couldn't fathom how such a weak Forger had managed to dodge his attack.
Meanwhile the cause of his fear merely ignored the man and focused on his AI companion's reply. (It's linked successfully. Though that short flight alone took about 3% of your Psionic energy reserves.)
'Then I'll finish this fast.' Ezekiel took advantage of the man's surprise to bring out the rest of the equipment in his suitcase and wore them. The two items being the two original blueprints given to him by the system, the Visor and a mechanical glove displaying a bright white color with the same similar golden line and with an amethyst light shining at the center of the palm.
"Psion Blast." The Mechanic raised his hand at the still assassin and the amethyst light at the center glowed even brighter before a blast of amethyst energy left the palm and flew towards the man.
"Hmph, I don't care what sort of treasures you have, you're dying here today. Fire magic: Flame Wall." The assassin scoffed, swiping at the air and creating a wall of fire that intercepted the amethyst energy projectile.
Ezekiel smiled, assuming a stance while the amethyst light at the center of his armored gloves shined brighter. "Hehe. Back at you, motherfucker."
