Caiden barely glanced at the small obsidian shard before stating confidently, "I don't need to see it. Doris would never harm you."
I wanted to lash out, to claw the smug certainty from his face, but I restrained myself.
I resolved to let the two monsters have each other for eternity.
"Now that you've had your say, it's my turn. Let's sever our bond." I presented him with the divorce papers.
Caiden's expression remained composed, showing no surprise. After perusing the document, he declared, "I will agree to sever the bond, but I must have full custody of the pup. I refuse to let my heir be raised by a spiteful, unstable mother like you."
I replied, "You needn't concern yourself with that. The pup is no longer a factor."
"You're being foolish. The healer confirmed the pup's health," Caiden insisted.
I stated coldly, "I lost the baby the night your Alpha command slammed me against the wall."
