Aurora tried her best not to reply to him with an insult, so she turned back to her laptop.
Julian cursed under his breath as she didn't reply.
He had already gotten used to teasing her even though they had never met before, and Aurora was getting sick of it.
Suddenly, Julian's cell phone begins to beep. He picked it up and frowned after seeing the familiar caller ID.
"Hello son." The caller said.
"Hello, Father," Julian replied coldly and indifferently.
"The family get together is tomorrow and you are expected by everyone to bring in your bride so we know that you are capable of handling the clan as the future leader and also most importantly bring forth a heir."
"And I do not want any more excuses, Julian. We want to see your bride tomorrow, and it should be so. Unless you'll be betrothed to the Chairman's daughter, Britney." The phone was aborted immediately, and his father spoke with the same indifferent tone – Like father, like son.
Julian sighed, exhausted by the whole situation. He didn't understand why he had to be forced to get married when he wasn't ready.
And most especially, he despises the idea of him getting wedded to Britney, the silly and sassy Chairman's daughter.
"Why don't you mind your business?" Julian sneered as he caught Aurora looking at him.
She immediately turned back to her laptop, and he turned to the files on his desk as he flipped the pages one by one, thinking of what to do.
He needed a woman who would help him convince his family that they were a couple, and that meant she would have to be his fake wife for some time.
He angrily and frustratedly massaged his temples, trying hard to think of a woman he could pay for the act.
Then, suddenly, an idea popped into his head.
He turned to Aurora with a large smirk, then he picked up his phone and sent a message to Sultan.
After twenty minutes, the Sultan arrived with some files in his hand and placed them on his desk.
"These are the documents you asked for, sir," Sultan said as he placed the documents on the desk.
"Good, now hand them over to her. Get the bodyguards in and make sure the door is locked." He uses his chin to point at Aurora, who looks dumbfounded when she realizes it is her he is referring to.
Sultan fell in awe as his boss had planned a marriage contract with his 'unattractive assistant.' He walked to her desk and placed the files in front of her. "I was told to give you this, Miss Bailey."
"Here, you can sign here." Sultan handed her a pen and instructed her on where to sign.
Aurora looked at Julian, and his evil smirk sent her shivers.
She turned to the document, and there was a heading 'MARRIAGE CONTRACT' boldly written on the document.
"Sign now because you have no choice." Julian's smirk grew bigger and more evil.
Aurora turned to the door, and she realized that truly there was no escape for her.
"How many months will it be for, sir?" She turned back to Julian.
"Isn't it stated there?" He replied coldly, and Aurora turned back to the document in front of her to hurriedly read it, and she stopped 'duration' on top. Instead of being a real-time duration, it said, 'Until everyone is convinced that they are indeed a wedded couple who love each other so very much.'
How ridiculous?
She gulped down saliva and took the pen from Sultan; then she placed her signature where instructed.
"That's a good girl," Julian said and sat up straight. He dismisses the Sultan and the guards so they would be alone.
"Now, Mrs Bailey Blackwood." He chuckled charmingly, but Aurora just ignored him.
"Since you will be my fake wife now, at least for a period of time. You should know my rules and abide to them unless you will get punished severely. I'll pay you 5000$ a month as stated in the contract and you will do a good job being my wife." Julian said.
"Rule number one, you must not get engaged with any other man until our contract is terminated. If you do then I'll be forced to pull a bullet to your head and that of his as you both will only make things worse for me."
"Rule number two, we will share a bed but try as much as possible to stay ten feet's away from me, unless I'll be tempted to rip your clothes off." He smirked.
"Rule number three, you are allowed to boast about me but don't not try seducing me, you won't like the outcome."
"Rule number four.." Aurora sighed and used her hand to support her head as she placed her elbow on the desk. He keeps going.
"You must not be gay.." he squinted his dark eyes. Her being gay would honestly affect his reputation, as it would be evident that they weren't truly in love.
"With that all stated, I think we can proceed to the next stage which will be to prepare for the get together tomorrow." He said and grabbed his suit.
'Already?' Aurora asked herself. She had just been his wife for a minute, and they all of a sudden needed to prepare to meet his family at a get-together.
How typical…
Julian put on his suit and adjusted his tie, then he stood up and grabbed his car keys.
"Let's go." He ordered and walked to the door.
"Okay, let me get my things." Aurora began to pack her hand, but Julian stopped her.
"Quit that, Sultan will handle it. Let's go now." He pulled the door open in a gesture for her to walk out.
She obeyed, and he followed behind her, locking the door of the office with his card.
They walked into the elevator and down to the lobby.
Julian turned to the receptionist, "Tell Sultan to get her stuff and mine to my villa before eight pm sharp." As he said, he walked with long steps as if his life depended on it.
"Get in." He opened the door to the passenger seat, and Aurora got in; he walked around the car to get into the driver's seat and started the engine immediately.
They arrived at Albertsons Fashion Boutique and walked into the store.
"Where is your boss, I need to speak to him." Julian said to the attendant as they walked in.
"The boss is unavailable at the moment, he left to Paris just this afternoon." The attendant politely replied.
Julian frowned and replied, "tell him to get here now. I trust only him can have what I need."
She bought it for the second time, and the attendant claimed that she could do nothing.
Julian's frown deepened as he shot the attendant a very intimidating stare, and if eyes could kill, then the attendant might have been long dead.
He began to dial a number.
"Get here now, it's urgent!" He said it and hung up the phone immediately.
Sure enough, after twenty minutes, an older man came rushing towards the bouquet as if he were a madman.
Although he was seventy, he remained agile and healthy.
"I'm so sorry, young master Blackwood. I was on my way to Paris when you called."He apologized when he got in. "And you, you should have given me a call." The older man shot an unpleasant glance at the attendant, and she bent her head down to look into the booklets.
"I need a nice dress for my wife and also a suit for myself that will match her's." Julian said, not replying to Albert's apologies.
"Oh, okay. Please follow me." He moved into an elevator, and it arrived on the fourth floor within five minutes.
They walked out, and Aurora fell into amazement as she sighted all the designer dresses, ball gowns, accessories, and suits.
The place wasn't just amazing; it was fantastic.
Albert moved over to a tinted show glass, pulled it open, and took out the dress in it.
It was a red, silky dress with sexy designs and a modern style.
It had an extended side cut, which Aurora had always loved. She walked into a dressing room to change and tried to pull up the zipper, but she couldn't reach it, so she decided to call for help.
"Can I get a hand please?" She yelled from the room.
One of the female attendants was about to head to the room when Julian stopped her.
"I'll go." He had taken off his suit and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows as he rested against a wall, like a demi-god that he was.
He walked into the room, which had mirrors on its walls and a floor of crystal tiles.
He turned to her back to help her zip up the zipper, and his thumb brushed against her back. It made her shiver a little.
He noticed it and smiled very briefly. "Close your mouth so a fly doesn't get in."
Aurora bit her lower lip in shame, and he noticed from the mirror in front of them that her lower lip had turned red when she bit it, and then it returned to its usual pale self.
"We'll take this one, change back out." He said and walked out of the room.
"She likes that one, now a suit you match with it." He said to Albert as he walked out.
Albert walked over to a shelf and took out a large box. He walked back to Julian and placed the box on a table, opened it to reveal a red modern-style tuxedo that perfectly suited the dress.
"Okay, I'll take that," Julian said, and Albert turned to one of the attendants as Aurora walked out in her regular clothes.
"Come pack them all for them." The attendant rushed to him and helped them carry the items to the car.
Aurora overheard them discussing the bill, and her jaw dropped at the price that was called.
"It's 40,000$ sir." Albert said.
"Okay, I'll get Sultan to send it over to you." Julian said and got into the car. Then he started the engine as they rode into the busy road.
The rich could indeed move mountains...
