Chapter Nine: The Twins’ Disappearance

ASTRID'S POV

I searched frantically for Luna and Jimmy, deep down I was more scared of Elijah's reaction after discovering that I had lost them.

I looked through every building in the school, but all to no avail.

I phoned Elijah alerting him about the situation.

"You did what?!! How can you be so careless, they're just children for crying out loud." Elijah yelled through the phone.

"I am sorry, I don't know how it happened-" I panicked.

Elijah cut my call, before I knew it. The whole school was surrounded by a swat team. Putting it on immediate lock down. News of the twin's disappearance had spread like wildfire.

I sat in the principal's office pretending to care, I cried falsely so that they wouldn't suggest I don't care. Which I didn't.

Elijah burst in Without knocking, nearly flipping the table.

"What kind of a mother are you, who loses her own kids at a huge school like this?!" He huffed.

"But-... But-.." I stammered.

"Nonsense, and what kind of security measures do you people have that two little kids can be lost and no one is aware! Where are the CCTV cameras!" Elijah ordered.

The principal looked frightened, so she turned on the computer and began searching through the previous videos of the early hours, but one scene from this afternoon was missing.

"Who would have done this? Very smart," I thought, nearly slipping a smile through my lips.

Elijah groaned and left the room angry, he stormed out with a group of police men following behind him as he barked orders at them.

I walked out shocked, yet confused. Whose works could this be? Flipping the almighty Elijah's mood into a hurricane.

Immediately I received a call from an unknown number.

"Meet me at the abandoned hospital building right now." Signed Ethan.

"Ethan? Was he behind this?" I smirked devilishly before heading out the school to the address he texted me.

I arrived almost immediately, the place seemed completely abandoned. It looked like no one had occupied it in years.

I walked in and found Ethan standing by the old door, near a rusty reception. It had cobwebs all over, the place smelled like old expired medicine and ammonia.

"Come with me!" Ethan said, he grabbed my arm and we walked up the stairs.

I saw the twins blind folded and chained to two chairs, Luna kept crying and Jimmy had passed out. Their presence irritated me.

"You gave me a heart attack! Why didn't you tell me your plan all along, you Moron! Now Elijah blames me for their disappearance.!" I huffed .

"Shii…." Ethan cupped my cheeks and kissed my lips.

"That was the whole plan, my brother has been holding on to billions for years and am tired of living under his shadow. So through his kids, you can I can claim a huge ransom and we will flee the country" Ethan smirked.

"But what about Ms Ivy, she will suspect your disappearance." I reasoned.

"Don't worry about her, I got rid of her." Ethan said, walking towards the twins before injecting them medicine to sedate them.

I stood there, impressed by his plan .

"Quickly, let's move them from here before our plans are spoiled." He grunted as he lifted Jimmy on his shoulder and Luna on the other.

He was surprisingly strong.

I followed behind making sure no one saw us leaving.

Ethan placed a time bomb in the building before driving us away.

"I lured Laura to this location, today she must die so that no one comes in between our plans." Ethan clenched his teeth as he drove away.

LAURA'S POV

The Abandoned building

I drove as fast as I could, overtaking cars without caring if the cops pulled me over.

I arrived at the abandoned hospital building, I walked inside and the smell inside the hospital hit my nostrils making me flinch for a second. I got my cloth and covered my nose as I began to navigate the place hoping for clues.

I tried calling the number but I was blocked. Feeling frustrated and angry, I had to follow my instincts.

I saw a pink piece of cloth, I rushed over and saw it was a ribbon. Soon after I saw a pink teddy bear.

I paused for a moment and picked it from the floor, I immediately knew this belonged to my daughter.

I held it close to my chest and tears began to fall. Memories of my last moment with my babies in prison lingered, the way the guards laughed when I was in labour, the blood that I lost during the process. I could not help but be strong, I had to find my babies.

I reached the top floor and found loose chains, fallen chairs and two needles on the ground.

I got some gloves and picked the needles, placing them in a plastic bag I had. I had to find out what was in there.

"Oh Luna, my little Jimmy, where are you?" I sighed.

As I stood there looking for more clues, I felt a loud explosion. The building started falling apart and I knew I had to get out of there.

I grabbed what I could find and rushed out, the concrete walls collapsing as I ran from one hall to the other searching for a way out.

The ceiling shook and chunks of it nearly fell on me.

The whole building was half on the ground and I was still stuck inside searching for a way out. I could not die now, at least not before I found my babies.

"I am not going to die now! Luna, Jimmy! Mommy will find you no matter what!" I coughed as I ran out the building. The dusty air filling my lungs, I could hardly see where I was going as I ran trying to search for an exit.

I saw the nearest exit and jumped out, concrete and blocks falling to the ground, nearly crushing me.

I laid on the pavement, catching my breath.

"I will find you, my Luna and Jimmy," I sighed, catching and nearly wheezing.

"Laura!"

I heard Harry call out.

He stretched his hand and pulled me off the ground.

"Don't worry Laura," Harry said and he dusted the debris off me.

"We will find the kids, and whoever did this will pay a heavy price!"
