LAURA'S POV
I spent the whole afternoon driving around town with Harry searching for my kids. Even though I didn't need his help, he had already tagged on.
Notifications and the media buzzed as I saw headlines of the twin's disappearance. A huge amount of money was placed as a reward for anyone with Information about their whereabouts.
Something I never knew Elijah would do.
The streets were blocked by the police, making it nearly impossible to drive through. Thanks to my reputation as a business woman, I had no struggle getting through.
I parked by the park because at this point, I was exhausted and I needed to catch my breath. It was already evening.
We got out of the car and sat by the bench, Harry held my hand and sympathized with me. But I didn't want his pity, I did not want anyone feeling pity for me.
I moved my hand from his and moved a bit further from him, in as much as he was a helpful person. I was never close to him to the point of embracing each other.
I saw a car I could not fail to recognize anywhere.
"Elijah," Harry clenched his fists.
Elijah walked towards me fuming with anger.
I'm sure the paparazzi already hinted about my location.
"Where are my children Laura!" He yelled, pulling me from my seat.
"What? You think I would harm innocent kids because you hurt me and sent me to jail? I'm not like your fake mistress!" I sneered.
"I know what you are capable of, I have seen what you are capable of doing." Elijah said angrily.
His anger did not scare me anymore. I was not going to let him know those are my children too and I was looking for them.
Harry held Elijah by the collar and punched him in the face.
I flinched, he groaned and held his bleeding nose.
Fueled with anger, Elijah saw a punch back at Harry causing chaos, as they dragged each other for a wrestle.
"Stop both of you!" I yelled with tears beaming in my eyes and anger.
I hated Elijah but I hated seeing him bleed, instead I ran towards Harry and his gaze softened when I touched him.
"Stay away from my wife!" Elijah huffed, his chest expanding in and out.
I could not utter a word.
"You mean the wife you hide from the world and jailed when you had the chance? I'm the one who will protect her now!" Harry said. I had never seen him that angry before.
Furious, Elijah stepped backwards and saw the blood that was coming out.
"Elijah will pay," Harry said manacly as he cleaned his blood stained fists and bloody nose.
I felt started when Harry said those words, it felt more like a battle between them than him trying to protect me. So I pretended like I heard nothing.
"Did you say something?" I asked him.
He chuckled nervously
"Uhm no," he lied.
I watched him get into the car, I followed behind.
"What did he mean, "Elijah will pay, "Am I missing something?" I thought to myself, while my mind drifted to my kids. The only reason I am living today.
Harry glared at me, his eyes held so much mystery, but I kept my eyes on the road as we drove home. For the first time, I felt unsettled.
"ELIJAH WILL PAY….." Harry's wwords echoed in my mind. Why did I care? Why was I curious to know what Harry meant?
Here I am, with his Elijah's biggest rival, what are the odds that am safe? But isn't this what I wanted?
I gulped as I drove through the streets of Lanesville.
