Class-D's Politics

Kaiser entered the class as quietly and sat at his usual seat. Unlike before, where he would receive a snarky jab or two, he was astonishingly—

"Good morning, Kaiser."

—greeted calmly.

'Hmm. So she's already trying to change, eh?'

"Morning, Hazel. Are you okay?" He asked with an innocently blank face.

"I wish." Hazel snorted, her usual snappish attitude quietly returning.

"I wonder..."

He muttered as he faced forward.

"What are you really? Are you even human?" With full seriousness in her eyes, Hazel asked.

She still remembered those chilling eyes that arrogantly stared down on her—absolutely ignoring the pain of the body.

Alas—

"Maybe? Maybe not."

She received his usual vague reply. Seeing that he wouldn't answer, she quickly dismissed his presence.

Soon, the homeroom teacher entered with her signature poker face but there was something that caught Kaiser's attention as he studied her. Her usually calm and collected gaze seemed aflame with determination.

'What could make her unable to stay calm and collected, I wonder?'

He turned to look at Kuramoto who also noticed this but said nothing, then looked at her again.

'Well, it's none of my business.'

"Morning class, without further ado, let's begin the lesson..."

...

The class ended as usual when Kuramoto, sitting in front of Hazel turned to look at her.

"You're awfully quiet."

"Huh?"

Stunned, she looked up at him with an incredulous expression.

"No, it must be your imagination" She retorted.

"Whatever makes you feel comfortable." Kuramoto remarked dryly.

Realizing that Kaiser was looking at them, Kuramoto turned to look at him.

"Good morning, Kaiser."

He greeted softly, his voice carrying no emotions. Still, he couldn't help but feel strange whenever Kaiser looked at him.

"Morning, Kuramoto."

With that, the conversation died like a small flame in a fierce wind. However, just then, their attention was drawn to Liam who stood up and climbed onto the podium, facing the entire class.

With his leader aura oozing out, the whole class quieted down, realizing he had serious information to share.

"Sorry for taking your time, but I think there's a pressing issue concerning our class. The last time a few upperclassmen came in here, I believe everyone could feel their palpable disdain for us. And due to this unjust sentiment, I and a few others did a research and unfortunately realized the reason for the sentiment. The school has a General ranking which consists of mostly Class-A and Class-B while the lower rankings contain mostly of Class-C and Class-D."

"So, what are you trying to say?"

Azma, a relatively quiet red hair, questioned with a frown.

A few others had looks of confusion on their faces while most seemed to have realized his words.

"What I mean is that since the school ranks it's students, it would obviously treat the top ones better." Liam explained.

"But every class receives 100,000 points per month and I don't see restrictions on any facility, so I guess it doesn't matter?"

Alisa cut in with a confused expression. She was also a lone wolf and someone admired by all the boys for her chest size.

"Sharp observation Alisa but that's only for the first month. We don't know how being in Class-D would affect us. So I'll advise us to be ready for any unpleasant surprise by the end of the month."

"Huh? Do you mean that we wouldn't get up to 100,000 points next months?" Joshua asked with a look of horror.

"That's bullshit with no concrete evidence!" Logan shouted with a deep frown—though it seemed even he was skeptical..

"I know, but it wouldn't hurt to be cautious." Liam replied calmly.

"Could you perhaps be mistaken, Liam?"

"That's ridiculous."

"The school told us we'll get 100,000 every month. Why would they lie?"

More people began speculating, though most of them knew Liam wouldn't just say nonsense. Thus, the class was in a fuss until a very commanding voice spoke.

"Quiet."

Hazel calmly walked towards the podium with a cold look then stood beside Liam.

"Listening to him might save your asses later." She said.

'Eeh? Quite straightforward, isn't that?' Kaiser thought—amused.

"H-huh?" Joshua stuttered, stunned.

"If you go ahead and ignore his words, how many of you are willing to take blame for the consequences? Hmm?"

She asked with narrowed eyes.

The others who were against Liam or half-heartedly resisting shrunk under her gaze and became quiet.

Even Liam was quite surprised at her words since they seemed like the last thing she would do.

"Thanks." He said quietly.

Hazel only glanced at him briefly before looking back at the class.

"No need, I'm only doing this for myself and the class. So I'll advise you to listen attentively and adhere to what he has to say."

With that, she picked up her bag and left the class but not before glancing at Kaiser.

'How did he know Liam was going to talk?'

....

Meanwhile, yesterday....

As she walked back to her dorm, her face marred with dried tears, a chilly wind blew past her causing her to stop.

"Tomorrow, Liam would speak up to the class about what I told you. Though he has solidified his position in the class, some would still voice their disagreement. I want you to quench that opposition then leave the class quietly." Kaiser's voice spoke from her back as she quivered involuntarily her head automatically lowering.

After some time, she looked back and realized that no one was there.

'Sigh, what a mess.'

....

After she left the class, the whole place was silent until Joshua shouted.

"Damn! That was hot!"

"You saw t-that right?"

"Indeed, I didn't know Hazel was someone who was that dominant."

"And she even spoke to us. Damn, she's just like an Ice Queen."

The others joined the sentiment and started talking about her until Liam cleared his throat.

"So, as we were saying, I would implore us to avoid coming late to class and please pay attention in class. We don't know how they'll evaluate us but I'm willing to bet that it's with those."

In the front row, Sebastian, who had been quietly watching with an amused smirk, finally stood up.

"Well, it seems not everyone is foolish. I'm starting to like you more, Bright-boy. Good luck, I have an appointment with some ladies."

Saying that, he checked himself in his mirror, then stepped out of the class.

"What an oddball..."

Kaiser shook his head.
