Chapter 2

I decide to follow her to the building nearby, and I am greeted with a warm welcome. As awakeners, we are the source of resources for a country. Making a good relationship between a country and an awakener is a must.

I can reject the offer and go independent, but I would rather register myself as a government-backed awakener. Unlike in many Manhua, Manga, and Manhwa I read in the past, the government cannot control you.

What? An awakener can destroy a country if they grow long enough. What's worse, on a certain level, they can summon their army from the Micro World. It is only one unit of the army, but depending on the race, they can summon thousands of them into the real world.

Yeah. Their bodies are already stronger than many people, and combine it with their army… It is better to create a better relationship with them than antagonize them.

The government can only request something from the awakener. Most of them will accept the request as long as the request is not too much, but there is a time when the awakener rejects the request.

The only thing a country requires them to do is not to work against the country, and when a tournament from the system starts, they need to represent the country they work with.

In return, the government will support you in your growth. How? Resource. New awakeners usually need resources to boost their early growth, and the government can support an awakener by giving them resources.

However, that is not the reason why I decided to join. I joined because it will make it easier for me to sell the excess resources I have from my Micro World. An independent person needs to search for buyers, unlike a government-backed awakener, which takes care of it for the awakener. An independent awakener can get more from the goods they sell directly to a buyer, but they need to search for a trustworthy buyer.

Lastly, as a government-backed awakener, my family will be taken care of. The government will take care of my family. Even my grandchild will be taken care of as long as I work as a Government-backed awakener.

Independent awakener can do that but I am too lazy to create a business that will last for generations and shit. Joining alone already secures my family's future, and with my power, I can make sure it is the brightest future.

Anyway, we entered a fancy office and she served me tea.

"Thank you for joining us, sir. May I ask your name?"

"Gabriel Jeraldi."

"Once again, thank you for joining us, Sir Gabriel. As a member—"

"Ah! I am not a member. Don't get me wrong. I will become a government-backed awakener, but I will not be a member. Don't confuse my willingness with submission. If you put my name as a member of your organization, I will be angry."

Even as a fresh awakener, I am dangerous. I can enter my Micro World as an emergency retreat option and return when I have enough power to fight the government. You can only enter your Micro World once a day, and I've not yet entered my world.

I watch as her expression changes a little. To be a member of this organization is like joining an army. You might immediately get a high-ranking position, but there are still people above you and a lot of red tape that holds your progress.

Working as an affiliate awakener gives you more freedom. There is still red tape, like any government organization, but it is a lot less than becoming a member.

"Are you sure? There will be a lot more benefits to joining our organization."

"No. That sounds good, but it is worse in the long run than what we can get."

"What if another awakener defeats you before you can get your Micro Worlds? You will lose your right as an awakener. You will only get the basic benefit. If you join, you will get a more secure future even when you are defeated early on."

"You don't need to worry about that. I will not enter any tournament or declare war against awakeners early. I will prepare and make sure I am ready before declaring war."

The system allows and even encourages all awakeners to challenge each other. However, you need to go through an official channel if you want to get a reward. You can declare war outside the official channel, but you will not get anything but destruction to your civilization.

"I see. What a shame. Very well. I shall prepare the documentation for it. Please wait a minute."

I watch her take out paper from the drawer and place it in front of me. I read through them, and when I see that it is the right paperwork, I sign it. When I am done, she offers her hand and says,

"Thank you for partnering with us, Sir Gabriel. We shall send the care package tomorrow morning."

We stand up and shake hands.

"Do you require a guide for your first visit to your Micro World, sir?"

"No. I will jump first. If there is anything I want to ask, I will return."

"I understand. Good luck"

"Thank you."

I leave the building and walk to my apartment. When I arrive inside my apartment, I immediately enter my bedroom and sit on the floor. I take a deep breath and say.

"Dive In."

After I say that, the world around me changes, and now I am above the sky. This is the 'God Mode' or 'Spectator Mode' where the awakener can interact with all the functions the system gives to an awakener.

I can see the menu in front of me and smile a little.

To start my civilization, I need to put up a castle for myself. Well, it is more of a shrine like the Ziggurat. It is a palace but also a shrine where the 'Gods' live, but in this case, it is real because I will 'live' there.

With a wave of my hand, I zoom out and search for a suitable place for my first civilization. After searching for a few seconds, I found the perfect place. It is not too far away from a river, and the land is very fertile. Not only that, but there are also resource tiles for me to grab, which are not too far away. There are ores, woods, and energy, all not too far away from this location.

The only thing this location doesn't have is an exotic resource tile. However, that is not a problem—exotic resources are used to make things from mid to late game blueprints.

[Build City]

After I press the button, I watch as a shrine appears from the ground up. It is rather modest, but it is because this city is still in the Tier-1 stage. No one knows how high you can upgrade your city, but everyone starts in the Tier-1 stage.

The highest tier among the awakeners is Tier-8 city. The owner of the Micro World is a woman with [Angel] as her starter race. It boosts her building speed and research speed. However, it cannot be compared to my mods.

I watch as humans pour out of my shrine, and I know it is time for me to work. I need to create a foundation for these people so they can build things by themselves.
