Chapter 10: Arrival in Noctmere

In Oblivar, even silence speaks in warnings.

A few minutes later, Meera found herself alone once more in the grand, silent library.

"How do I leave the Heaven Library and begin my journey?" she murmured.

As if in response, a lone book drifted toward her. It hovered in the air, then gently opened. Words appeared on its glowing page:

Greetings, Meera.

You now live the life of a poor girl. Your parents—whether alive or dead—are unknown.

Your new home is the village of Noctmere, and you reside in a small inn. You are registered with the Adventurer's Guild.

For your first month, the inn provides food and shelter free of charge. After that, you must earn your keep.

To summon the Heaven Library, say: "Open Heaven Library."

To close it, say: "Close Heaven Library."

May the gods bless your survival.

As she read the final line, the book shimmered into tiny glowing particles and vanished into the library air.

The silence returned.

The chill returned.

Meera took a deep breath and whispered,

"Now… it's time to enter Oblivar."

"Close Heaven Library."

The world blinked.

Meera opened her eyes to find herself on a straw bed, wrapped in a worn wool blanket. Above her, a timber ceiling sagged under age. The air smelled of dried herbs and dust.

She sat up slowly. Her heart raced.

"So… this is Noctmere."

The room was small but tidy. A jug of water and a stale piece of bread sat on a wooden table. Hanging near the door, a cloth bag held a simple village map and a silver token—the emblem of the Adventurer's Guild.

"No more gods. No more voices. Just me and Oblivar."

She stepped outside into the evening air. The sun was sinking behind the hills, painting the sky in fading gold and crimson.

The village of Noctmere stretched ahead. Wooden houses lined narrow cobbled paths, many cracked or tilted with age. Mist curled from the surrounding forests, giving the streets a ghostly glow.

After a while wandering the paths, Meera spotted a girl—around her own age. She had silver hair, ice-blue eyes, and wore warrior gear laced with frost runes. Her skin was pale and smooth, her posture alert and ready for combat.

Meera hesitated… then stepped forward and said softly,

"Hello, I'm Meera."

The girl said nothing. She simply stared—coldly, sharply—from head to toe, like she was peering into Meera's soul.

Seconds passed.

Just as Meera turned to leave, a voice broke the silence.

A single line—chilling and sharp:

"You're not from here."

The words slammed into her like a punch.

Meera froze. Her breath caught. Sweat formed along her brow.

She wanted to speak—but no words came.

Who is this mysterious warrior girl?

Does she know Meera's secret?

What fate awaits in Noctmere's shadows?
