CHAPTER 9 The Shadow and the Dead

Inside the vast, ancient mansion, Meera stood still—her posture tense, her eyes wary. The air was cold and heavy, thick with mystery. She could still feel the echo of unspoken truths vibrating through the marble floor beneath her.

A deep, commanding voice broke the silence.

"Now that you understand how to use the Heaven Library," the God of Game spoke, his voice low and chilling, "it's time for you to learn more about the world you now belong to—Oblivar."

Meera sighed softly, the corner of her lips twitching into a dry smile.

"Is it not done yet?" she muttered. "How many secrets do you hide, Oblivar? It's already the fourth chapter..."

The God of Game let out a soft chuckle, nodding with amusement.

"Just one final truth, Meera. You already know about the power rankings, the mana core system, and CP."

He paused.

"Now, it's time for you to learn about the Elements and Professions. In Oblivar, these two things determine your fate. Some are weak, and some... shape legends."

Meera's heart skipped. Her breath caught in her throat.

"Please, God," she whispered. "Please don't let it be something weak. Not after everything. Please..."

She began silently chanting her prayer, over and over.

The God of Game smiled gently—surprisingly warm, even for a being so divine.

"I know your fear, Meera. But worry not. I'm giving you one of the most powerful combinations ever seen in this world."

He leaned closer, voice dropping to a whisper, almost like a prophecy:

"Your Element... is Shadow.

Your Profession... Necromancer."

Meera's eyes widened.

The mansion fell silent—so silent she could hear her own heartbeat pounding like war drums in her chest.

She took a moment to process, then muttered,

"So... you're telling me I've become a Necromancer?"

GOG nodded.

Meera paused again, thinking, then asked,

"Is there a level system for my element and profession too?"

GOG chuckled, as if expecting the question.

"Yes. Just like all professions in Oblivar, both your element and your role require mastery. The more you train, the stronger your efficiency becomes."

Meera took a deep breath and mentally prepared herself. She expected another difficult road.

But then GOG surprised her.

"You, Meera, are an exception."

She blinked in confusion.

"Unlike others, your path of growth depends not just on practice—but on action. Every time you kill a monster, you will gain Experience Points (EP). These will directly boost your elemental efficiency and your profession level."

Meera couldn't help but smile, her shoulders relaxing just a little.

"Well... something good for once."

After a brief silence, the God of Games' tone changed again—deep, calm, final.

"Now, Meera... you've learned all you need. My part in your journey ends here. But yours is just beginning."

He raised his hand.

"As my final gift, I've embedded a system interface into your soul. It will help you monitor your stats, EP, skills, and more. Use it wisely."

He took a breath, then added gently,

"And a word of advice—join an academy. It will change your life."

Another pause.

"And make friends. In Oblivar, a true friend can mean the difference between victory... and death."

A soft glow began to swirl around him. The air shimmered. Light engulfed his form.

His voice echoed one last time.

"Good luck, Meera. Survive."

And with that, he vanished.

Meera stood alone once again. The mansion of the Heaven Library was silent, its endless empty shelves watching over her like silent guardians.
