I watched the tear disappear into the pillow, hardly believing what I'd just witnessed. Kaelen Sterling—the Alpha who ruled with an iron fist and showed no mercy—had shed a tear. My heart pounded as I debated whether to acknowledge it or pretend I hadn't seen.
"What are you looking at?" His voice was quiet but sharp, catching me staring.
I swallowed hard. "You... you were crying."
His jaw tightened immediately. He didn't deny it, but his green eyes darkened with something between anger and embarrassment.
"I wasn't crying," he said firmly, though we both knew it was a lie. "It was nothing."
