Chapter 30 - Cornered by Desire
I stood frozen in the bathroom, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. The door had barely closed behind Kaelen when it swung open again. I expected the intern, but instead, Kaelen reappeared, his eyes no longer their usual piercing blue.
They glowed crimson red.
"K-Kaelen?" I stammered, backing up until I hit the sink counter.
He locked the door again with deliberate slowness. "Not quite."
Understanding washed over me in a terrifying wave. This wasn't just Kaelen – his wolf had partially taken control. Zeth. The most dominant, aggressive alpha wolf in the territory.
"What are you doing?" My voice came out embarrassingly high-pitched.
He stalked toward me with predatory grace. "Finishing what we started."
"We didn't start anything," I protested weakly.
A dark chuckle escaped him as he closed the distance between us. "Lying doesn't suit you, little fox."
