Chapter 64 - Collision of Desire and Duty
"She's not my sister." Kaelen's voice was cold as ice against my ear, sending shivers down my spine despite the warm water enveloping us.
I squirmed in his grip, painfully aware of how this looked—trapped naked against his equally naked body while his fiancée stared at us in horror. My face burned with humiliation.
"Let me go," I hissed, pushing against his chest.
To my surprise, Kaelen released me. I swam quickly to the edge of the pool, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around myself as I climbed out. Isolde's eyes tracked my every movement, her expression a mix of disgust and disbelief.
"I'll... give you two some privacy," I mumbled, unable to meet her gaze.
"Stay exactly where you are, Seraphina." Kaelen's command froze me mid-step.
He exited the pool with predatory grace, not bothering to cover himself. Isolde averted her eyes, her cheeks flushing. I couldn't tell if it was from anger or embarrassment.
