"Princess Claudia, do we really need to make haste to meet the Magnificent King?" Isa nervously asked just after passing through the gate and taking a dragon carriage.
"Why not?"
"I mean, his Magnificence might be busy. Such as having a very important meeting of some sort. Um, normal duties as a king, perhaps?"
Claudia pursed her lips thinking while holding her chin.
"He might be, indeed." She replied.
A hint of relief spread across Isa's face but it didn't last long.
"Nevertheless, the issue before us holds greater significance than any meeting I can imagine."
The demon woman deflated and didn't continue asking any further, instead, she looked out of the window in awe as they soared through the sky.
The structures of the city weren't high-rise; rather, they were mid-century one-story modern houses with enough greenery around them.
Most of the houses were made of various shades of stone and wood; however, the structure that stood out the most, standing the tallest of every other structure, was a neoclassical style of architecture.
"Is that...the castle of the Magnificents?"
"Indeed it is."
Isa looked at the gigantic white castle with astonishment. She had never seen anything like this before.
Honestly, her life was never eventful other than a few loan sharks scaring her now and then and the gangsters ending her life. She also wasn't rich enough to go to places of historical interest.
Seeing something so remarkable, birthed a rise of excitement and curiosity in her stomach.
"It's beautiful..."
"Previously, a thought did occur about its beauty to me when I first laid my eyes on it, but I hadn't really imagined that it would be this beautiful, in reality," Claudia muttered a bit dazed, looking at Isa with a tint of red on her cheek.
Hearing the princess, the demon woman looked at the sapphire beauty sitting in front of her in surprise.
"What? Didn't you always live in that castle?" She asked, a bit confused at woman looking at her.
"Indeed I did."
Isa gave a weird look at the weird Princess.
'Damn is she on something?'
Nonetheless, Isa brushed her off and looked down on the city more, her eyes almost having the sparkle of glitter.
They soon entered the castle's gate on the flying carriage. Now looking closely, Isa's mind was officially blown away.
The castle's pale stone glowed under sunlight, radiating majesty and serenity. In front, a graceful fountain danced with cascading water, reflecting the castle's grandeur and adding a soothing melody.
Lush gardens frame the vista, enhancing the castle's stately beauty. This harmonious blend of fine architecture and nature captivated Isa, evoking awe and tranquillity.
Magnificent and Regal guards and knights stood vigilant on every corner of the castle.
There was no doubt that the Demon Queen was here.
When seeing the Magnificent princess Claudia, a butler instantly ran to her.
"Princess Claudia! The Magnificent knights searched everywhere for you and the demon princess! We were greatly concerned, especially our King Liam, who was sick with worry!"
Claudia nervously laughed before calming the butler now.
"Fret not, I am unharmed. Though I may have been carried away, a capable young demon came to my aid." The princess cordially gestured towards Isa as she politely smiled at the butler.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, any how, did Princess Vero-
Suddenly, a guard approached them, bowing to the princess before speaking,
"His Magnificence has ordered the princess to be present in the meeting room, this instant."
Having a bit of a scared expression, Claudia rolled back her shoulders before nodding at him. She then started walking but then stopped when she noticed Isa wasn't coming with her.
"Follow me."
"Magnificent King Liam called for her princess, I probably couldn't intrude on such a private matter," Isa said smugly, earning an eye roll from the princess.
"Guards, ensure she accompanies me."
"What?!"
Two guards instantly tried to get hold of the demon woman's arms, but she instinctively dodged, leaping back.
"Fine fine, I'm coming!"
Claudia sighed in satisfaction before going inside the castle with Isa following behind with no choice.
When entering the castle, even though going through a mental turmoil, Isa couldn't help but to admire the symmetrical facade, grand columns, and intricate pediments inspired by ancient Greek and Roman architecture.
They soon reached the meeting room with both of their hearts quickening in anticipation of what was to come next.
Claudia took a deep breath while Isa held her breath. Both women were very tense, one feared the wrath of her father while the other feared an encounter with the villainess.
However, before she could knock on the sturdy wooden door, a sudden shock wave of mana threw them back against the wall, subsequently the wooden door instantly bursting open as a result of the impact.
Isa held her chest as she groaned in pain before looking up for the source of such immense power.
"What do you imply by saying my sister hasn't arrived with your daughter?! Though a ferocious beast may have attacked them and led them astray, the terms of our contract explicitly stated that you would ensure, especially her safety, and in return, we would procure the Alexandrite for you!" A strong voice of a woman boomed through the wide meeting room.
Inside stood the Demon Queen, Lilith, with a female Regal Knight behind her and the Dragon King Liam at the opposite side of the long table. Lilith looked furious while King Liam tried his best to reason with her.
"Indeed, please compose yourself, Queen Lilith. However, our knights have returned gravely injured, and it will take some time to dispatch reinforcements."
"It signifies that none of the Magnificent Knights stayed with my sister, except her own personal Regal Knight who is yet to return. Thus, all others fled with their tails between their legs." Queen Lilith sternly spoke, pointing to the irresponsible Magnificent knights.
King Liam let out a deep sigh in return.
"We already told you, the situation was dire. Also, I've given my word I'd send reinforcements as soon as-
"I firmly believe you cannot. Though I am aware that my kingdom faces financial hardship, your realm also suffers from a lack of Alexandrite to forge weapons, resulting in the loss of knights to the Forest of Noman." Lilith pointed out.
Liam rubbed his temple, feeling overwhelmed. He very well knew that every word spoken out of the demon queen's mouth was in fact had come to be visible in recent times.
Finally sighing, he let out his final verdict, he uttered,
"It seems the contract was unfeasible from the outset. I am grateful you endeavored with us, but I fear this marks the limit of our progress."
Isa and the Dragon princess beside, only quietly watched as the story unfolded between the leaders like a drama. No one dared to utter a single word between the storming voices of the Demon Queen and the Dragon King.
But what caught Isa's attention was a system notification ringing in her ear.
[New Quest Detected]
[Thee Bridge The alliance: After finding the Demon and Dragon kingdoms on the verge of ending its alliance, you are to come forth to stop the misunderstanding and help them bridge the gap between their differences and successfully let them form an alliance.]
The woman who had her mouth hung open and eyes only fixated on the quest bar, totally ignored reading what the rewards were.
'Wh..at?'
Isa read the quest details again and again. SHE WAS ONLY A LEVEL 3 FOR GOD'S SAKE!
Now the system was telling her to intervene between two strong individuals where one was the supposed Villainess of the story and the other was...the one who helped kill her?!
