Save The Witch!

'Can't I just ignore this damn quest?!'

As soon as Isa thought, the system dinged.

[Pussy much?]

The demon woman furrowed her eye brows, utterly confused and annoyed at the system. She wasn't even sure if the system was supposed to act like this.

'Well, it did call me dumb at the beginning, so...'

[The following quest increases the survivability of the user in the future. Do you wish to accept?]

'Desperate much, system?' Isa taunted with a smug look on her face.

[....]

[Rejecting the quest will change your name to 'Spineless Tremblepants'. Do you wish to reject the quest?]

'...this mother...'

Isa stared at the holographic screen for a few seconds while Lilith and Liam's arguments echoed in the background.

She clicked her tongue in annoyance. Without arguing the Demon Queen could just rush to the forest to find her sister but for some odd reason, she was still wanting to establish the contract while also giving an earful to the Dragon King.

[Rejecting the quest in 10, 9, 8...]

Isa bit her bottom lip, her mind racing with the thoughts of the storyline that might be useful for this situation. She had to think of something fast.

On one side, she actually wanted to survive but on the other, she wasn't confident at all with her skills. She hadn't even tried her element yet.

[5, 4..]

"Fine, fine! I accept!" She yelled, rolling her eyes.

But a sudden silence screamed louder than someone drilling through a wall. With the Dragon King and Demon Queen's voice's sudden absence, Isa slowly looked up.

Her eyes were instantly met with sapphire and bloody ruby- like eyes. She instantly froze. The frustrated woman just attracted four pairs of eyes on her.

While King Liam looked with wonder, Queen Lilith stared through her soul, making her shiver in uncertainty.

Now that Isa looked attentively, the demon queen's jade-black hair flowed down, with four horns rising from her head. She wore a sleek black gown that fit her perfectly, highlighting her captivating figure.

'Now's not the time to gawk, Isa...Speaking of, Why's her hair black and her head with that many horns? Her final gates shouldn't be open yet.'

Suddenly, something definitely felt wrong. But then her mind clicked.

The mana core, an organ located next to the heart and linked to all arteries, veins, and capillaries, acted as a storage for mana, enabling the use of elements and magic.

Typically, Demon Regals possess a mana core with three layers or gates, unlocking vast power. It was also one of the reasons why human Royal rulers were depicted as fearful of the Demon Queen in the game.

While initially, all Regals have blood-red hair and eyes, opening the final gate alters one's appearance, with horns and fast hair growth and turning it jade black.

However, the demon queen, Lilith shouldn't have achieved the third state until the death of her second sister, the general of the Regal battalion and also the one standing behind the Queen at the moment, Cecil Hawthorn.

Her death should occur about a month after this point in the story, forcing the third gate awakening of Lilith out of absolute fury.

But here she was, with that shiny black hair and the horns that might put a hole through a body without any remorse, looking as if she had already reached the apex of her power.

"Very well, set out this instant to look for Princess Veronica."

"Eh?"

Isa widened her eyes. When did she agree to....

'Oh my God, don't tell me they were talking about hiring someone to look for that...witch.'

"What is the meaning of that tone? Did you perchance feign your words on the matter earlier?" Lilith's voice cut through the air, piercing Isa's ears.

"No I mean y-

"I firmly believe Isadora would suit this task admirably, given her nature as a wandering demon and her exceptional prowess in combat." Claudia Rellish spoke out from the side with a thoughtful expression.

Isa snapped her head toward the dragon princess so fast, her neck nearly cracked.

"Claudia..." King Liam said, studying his daughter.

The dragon princess bowed to both the Dragon King and the Demon Queen.

"Greetings. Pray forgive me, for I failed to accompany Her Regal Highness Veronica. A vicious Voragoth Thrasher led me astray from her company. Yet, this wandering demon, skilled as both mage and warrior, vanquished it, rescuing me and guiding me back."

'Me, guiding you?! You literally forced me here!'

Isa's mouth hung open as Claudia kept exaggerating her 'extraordinary' skills—she was only level 3!

King Liam nodded approvingly at the princess's explanation, while Queen Lilith shot a furious glare at Isa, clearly irritated by the wasted time. Before the queen could lash out, Isa cleared her throat.

The hybrid woman rolled her shoulders, took a deep breath, and approached the demon queen. General Cecil stepped forward warily, but Queen Lilith signaled her to stop.

Isa knelt gracefully before the queen, bowing her head.

"I'm honoured to have your trust in me, my queen. I give my word, I'll rescue princess Veronica."

Queen Lilith's expression remained stoic, but she gestured for Isa to rise.

"However, I request, her Regal majesty and Magnificent King take their time looking into the unusual monster."

"What do you imply?" King Liam asked, raising an eyebrow.

A faint smirk crossed Isa's face as she stepped back a few meters and extended her hand toward the floor.

A bluish vortex formed in her palm, and the seven-foot-tall Voragoth Thrasher's body materialized, hitting the red carpet with a thud. Everyone's eyes widened, and King Liam gritted his teeth, his face reddening.

"What is the meaning of this behaviour?! What is your identity?!"

"Pardon me, Magnificent King. However, I think the attack today was intentional. Please, I request his majesty to examine this Voragoth Thrasher's body."

Isa then took out her dagger from thin air, earning another surprised expression from the leaders.

King Liam's eyes almost wanted to come out of his sockets upon seeing the dagger, which was stunning yet deadly, featuring a blade with a unique blue pattern that flowed like waves on a sapphire ocean.

Its hilt, made of polished obsidian with an elegant curve, was set with a single, glowing blue stone that emanated a familiar aura as well as an otherworldly touch to its lethal beauty.

"As a demon, this dagger bestowed upon me testifies that Demons and Dragons are fated to be brothers in arms, friends in hardships, and comrades in battles."

Isa bowed earnestly.

"So please, my heartiest request, The Magnificent King Liam, reconsider our Queen's contract and ally not only for the sake of short-term prosperity, but for something that can go down in history in creating peace for both realms."

Isa looked up, seeing King Liam in disbelief, having a second thought if he should trust the unknown demon that came out of nowhere and was hinting at such confidential things.

"Demon Isadora ought to depart without further delay. I wish to explain all, Father."

Isa sighed in relief when Claudia came to her rescue. She glanced at the leaders one more time before bowing. Without saying anything else, she backed away and eventually left as fast as she could.

Her heart thrummed as she ran out of the castle.

'Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh what was I spouting?! I almost died in there!'

Isa wanted the ground to swallow her up. What's more, she had no idea if the thing she pulled would even do anything good. However, her confusion dispersed when the system dinged.

Isa muttered a curse, feeling like she was practically signing her own death warrant. However, the system's suggestion to get involved with the quest sparked a faint hope that it might ensure her survival, somehow keeping her alive through whatever challenges she faced... or so she hoped.
