Iden looked over the rising bonespike gates, the carved watchtowers, the farming lines etched into the soil with runic channels. He saw children training with wooden spears. Miners humming as they carved stone. Familiars curled beside campfires, once-strangers now loyal companions.
He remembered his father's voice:
"Don't build a place. Build a home others will never want to leave."
"Sanctum," he said quietly. "Call it Sanctum."

Iden? He remained the heart—command, design, and vision
Just as they completed the first rotation of the governance loop, an urgent ping came from the eastern gate tower.
A flagged traveler, cloaked and alone, approached—unarmed, but exhausted.
He was brought before Iden within minutes.
A man in his twenties, lean, sun-browned, eyes too sharp to be ordinary.
"Name's Cyran. I saw your name light up the sky," he said, catching his breath. "Been scouting two weeks. Avoided most settlements. Most are tyrannies. You're the only one who didn't kill their own to get a farm."
Iden didn't smile, but he didn't raise his weapon either.
"You came to help?"
"No," Cyran said. "I came to warn you."
Silence fell.
"A Lord-class Candidate. Codename Valtross. One of the brutalists from the second week. He's building an empire of fear in the South Ridge. He saw your name on the map… and laughed."
Rael narrowed her eyes. "That doesn't sound promising."
"He's marching with his full army," Cyran continued. "Elite summons. Tamed beasts. Dozens of conscripted candidates. Two days, maybe three. He's coming to crush your light before it gets brighter."

"Then we don't wait."
"We build faster. Train harder. Prepare smarter."
He looked to Cyran.
"You came to warn us. Will you help defend it?"
Cyran smirked. "You gave this world something to believe in. I'm not about to let it burn."
