Chapter 5 Tony

Seeing what was happening, Clark quickly turned the steering wheel, trying to avoid the flying "person" in the air.

"CRASH!!"

But a car was still a car. Despite Clark's efforts to swerve, the tail end of his vehicle was still struck directly by Iron Man.

"What?!"

The moment the vehicle was rear-ended, the front end tilted up, and the car was about to roll over and fly off the road. Mary, sitting in the passenger seat, screamed in terror. The sensation was just too terrifying.

But then Mary realized — the badly smashed, airborne car had suddenly stopped mid-air, then floated gently toward the roadside and finally landed safely.

"Clark, you?!"

Mary turned and saw her son sitting in the seat, hands pressed against the car's ceiling, where deep handprints were visible — as if Clark had held the car up himself.

"Mom, stay in the car. Don't come out."

As the car landed, Clark gave Mary a firm warning before stepping outside.

Clark was annoyed — any normal person would be if their car got smashed on the road. Luckily, he was inside the car. If it had been someone else, they'd have died multiple times over.

He already had a good idea of what was going on. The "Iron Man" who had hit them was clearly Iron Man. And at this point in the timeline, who else but Obadiah could be throwing him around?

"Clark, don't go over there — it's dangerous!"

Mary saw Clark get out of the car and thought he might try to check out what hit them.

Still thinking her son was just an ordinary person, Mary had no idea what Clark's driving maneuver or the airborne landing meant. She just wanted him to stay safe. She figured it'd be best to call the police and let her husband handle it.

Just then, the ground trembled — and a large robot landed not far from them and began walking toward the first robot that had landed.

"Mom, don't worry. I'm Clark Kent — I'm Superman."

Clark smiled confidently at his mother. Before she could say anything, he turned and ran toward the battle.

As soon as he turned away, Clark's smile vanished, replaced by pure fury. If he had used Bruce Banner's method, he probably would've transformed by now.

As Clark and his mother were trying to figure out what was going on, Iron Man was knocked into the air by Obadiah. Their battle left the road full of potholes and caused several traffic accidents. Clark could hear the cries of pain all around him.

"All these years, I've helped you climb to the top. I worked hard and got nothing.

Now, nothing can stop me.

Not even you!"

With that, Obadiah grabbed Tony and threw him toward a nearby bus. Then, a miniature missile launched from the shoulder of the Iron Monger suit, flying straight at Iron Man.

Clark saw the missile launch and rushed into action.

The Iron Man movie had come out in 2008. Clark had time-traveled in 2019, and now he was 24 — which meant he'd seen the film five years ago. Luckily, he remembered the general plot.

But he couldn't recall whether the missile hit Tony or what the result would be if the timeline changed because of him. Either way, he couldn't risk it hitting Tony, because having Tony alive was far better than dead.

Obadiah didn't know any of this. All he saw was that his missile didn't hit Tony — instead, it was slapped aside mid-air, exploding harmlessly in the sky.

"Who are you?!"

Obadiah's eyes went wide. He never imagined one of his own company's missiles could be slapped away by someone. This was Stark Industries tech — not some cheap junk from Hammer Industries.

Even though it was a mini missile, its launch speed exceeded Mach 1, meaning it traveled over 40 meters per second, essentially faster than sound. From where it launched to Tony, there were only about a dozen meters. It should have hit instantly.

Yet this stranger not only intercepted the missile mid-flight but had enough energy to redirect it and survive the explosion.

What kind of monster was this?!

Obadiah was terrified. Against a being like this, his Iron Monger suit offered little protection.

"Who am I? You smashed my car — and you still want to ask who I am?"

Clark sneered, his tone cold.

"JARVIS, do you have any data on this guy?"

Though Tony had been tossed into a bus like trash, his suit protected him perfectly, and he'd seen the whole scene — how the mysterious man had appeared and deflected the missile.

JARVIS, receiving the command, accessed nearby surveillance and hacked into national records to look up Clark.

"Sir, I found him.

Clark Kent. Born June 6, 1984.Graduated from Berkeley Business School.Currently owns a flower shop in Manhattan.Father: Jonathan Kent…"

"Wait, what did you say his name was?" Tony interrupted, suddenly recognizing something familiar.

"Mr. Clark Kent."

"Superman?! JARVIS, check if this Superman just landed in our world."

Tony muttered the name, suddenly realizing it was the exact same name as the famous Superman from DC Comics.

Following Tony's order, JARVIS displayed footage of Clark emerging from the wrecked car, flying over, and intercepting the missile.

"Cough cough... Hey, buddy. Help me take this guy down and I'll give you a limited edition sports car, deal?"

Tony stood up and, hearing Clark speak, immediately realized he had a chance here.

Because clearly, Clark chose to deflect the missile rather than let it hit Tony. Even if this guy wasn't the comic-book Superman, he was at least not evil.

"No need. Just fix my car."

Clark wasn't picky about cars — he couldn't fly at full speed anyway. But having a car made daily life more convenient.

"Deal. I'll get you a new one later."
