Sunny was irritated for only a couple minutes; he had more important things to worry about.
He weighed the option of trying to run and survive on his own quickly dismissed the idea.
For one, there were still chains on him.
Secondly were the skulls he saw when he first entered, whatever will cause that could probably hunt him down if it wanted.
thirdly, the weather was even harsher than when he had his mini survival quest, so he was unsure if he even could start one.
Sunny opened his runes again; he was so outraged by his aspect that he didn't check to see his attributes, attributes were the life or death deciding factors for most trials.
And who knows, this time he could get lucky.
[Fated] Attribute Description: "The strings of fate wrap tightly around you.
Unlikely events, both good and bad, are drawn by your presence. There are those who are blessed, and there are those who are cursed... but rarely both."
[Mark of Divinity] Attribute Description: "You bear a faint scent of divinity, as though someone briefly touched by it once, a long time ago."
[Child of Shadows] Attribute Description: "Shadows recognize you as one of their own."
'This... is something to say the least'
He quickly deduced a few things.
[Fated] was the cause of this whole predicament, just be reading its name he thought it meant he was simply destined to die, but upon reading the description it simply means he was lucky and unlucky at the same time.
'I'm sure this won't cause any problems in the future,' Sunny thought with sarcastic unease, 'definitely'
[Mark of divinity] was easy enough to understand; it gave him an affinity to divinity and maybe enhancements for sorcery, but unless there was a secret temple conveniently somewhere on the mountain, this too was useless.
'Maybe for the future,' He grimaced, 'if I have one'
The last one was what caught his eye.
[Child of shadows] Seemed to give him a strong affinity to shadows, but sunny had no idea how to use it.
Until the sun drifted slowly towards the mountain and hid behind it.
Sunny could see perfectly in the darkness, almost like the sun never set.
This ability on its own was valuable, but the description hinted that this wasn't the only thing this attribute could do.
'So... useless, useless and usable' he determined 'maybe I could...'
"Stop the caravan! prepare to camp!'
upon hearing the soldier orders, countless slaves fell down on the ground with a mixture of groans and grunts, shivering in the cold of the mountain. The clearing where the road widened was surrounded by protruding rocks, so it was somewhat protected from the wind.
Still, it was too cold to rest with ease.
The soldiers began herding the slaves into a tight circle, forcing them to share warmth and began lighting a bonfire in the middle of camp.
they placed the wagon which carried all the necessities such as food and water, as well as where the main chain was affixed in such a way as to block the wind.
Sunny saw the young soldier once more, he was staring at the mountain peak with a complicated expression as if to make out something.
By now, sunny was sure the young soldier was an awakened of sorts, he had to be.
Nobody could be so handsome naturally.
He looked to where the soldier was looking, trying to see if there was something of interest.
But there was nothing, aside from some rocks tumbling down because of the wind- he assumed.
'What a weirdo'
The bonfire was soon blazing the icy cold of the mountains, the slaves rushed as close as possible to the fire, pushing and shoving each other just for the chance they could be a little warmer.
The number of slaves had thinned out considerably during the journey up, those who were too weak to walk were just thrown off.
He felt a pang of sympathy for them; he too was a slave after all.
Sunny was of course at the back of the crowd, his body was too weak to think about trying to push forward.
"Damn these imperials!" The broad-shouldered slave cursed.
The soldiers began walking among the slaves, handing out rations. Sunny, just like everyone else was given a couple sips of icy water and thrown a rock-hard piece of icy moldy bread.
He scarfed it down without second thought, any nutrition he could receive, he would receive without second thought.
But he was still left hungry.
The sentiment was shared by most of his fellow slaves it seemed.
There was a few mumbles and grumbles but he didn't pay much attention to them, he was too busy trying to formulate a plan.
Then he heard the voice of the gentle and intelligent guy again.
He turned around and finally saw him, he looked like a man in his 40's, lean and weirdly handsome. He had the dignified look of a scholar so that's what sunny decided to call him.
"I would advise against eating those friend"
Sunny turned the other way and saw the shifty guy trying to crawl to a bush of red berries sunny had made note of earlier.
He had already deemed them to be unfit for consumption, otherwise the soldiers themselves would be picking them and eating them.
"You and your advice again! What?! Why?!"
The scholar smiled apologetically.
"These berries are called Bloodbane. They grow in the places where human blood was spilled. That's why there's always a lot of them along the slave trade routes."
"So what?"
The older man sighed.
"Bloodbane is poisonous. A few berries might be enough to kill an adult man."
"Curses!"
Sunny mostly ignored the conversation between the slaves and paused.
'Where human blood spilled?'
He looked around once again and recognized the place as the same place where he saw the skeletons, the event that would kill all of them was going to happen soon.
He looked up quickly, the rocks he had seen earlier...
'Curses!'
Those weren't because of the wind.
He saw massive boulders and ice fragments dropping from the sky.
