Lein's eyes widened in shock. His face turned pale as he look a towering structure rose into the sky.
Its peak stretching higher and higher until it seemed to shatter the sky themselves. The sky cracked and shattered as the tower pierced through it, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The colossal tower shone with a brilliant white hue, adorned with gleaming golden details. The crack in the sky, pierced by the tower, glowed with a radiant white light, as if heaven itself was trying to shine light on the darkness. However, the darkness of the sky dimmed the light's brilliance, and despite the heavenly light, the sky began to grow even darker.
Everything felt just like in his previous imagination...
Lein suddenly remembered his urgent meeting with Reo at school. He quickly stepped back into his apartment, which was on the verge of collapse, grabbed a backpacks, and stuffed them with essential items like a machete, chemicals, and electronic devices. He grab up his newly adopted cat, with the cat securely in his and, Lein hastily left the apartment.
----
As Lein journeyed to school, he walked forward, surveying the devastated city around him. The streets were littered with the ruins of homes and buildings, and the ground was cracked and fissured from the powerful earthquake. Bodies lay motionless, crushed beneath the ruins, and the air was filled with the anguished cries and panicked screams of the city's inhabitants.
As he journeyed on, he finally caught sight of Reo, who was standing with a man in front of the school. The scene around them was chaotic, with people running wildly in all directions, their faces etched with fear and panic.
"Reo, Are you okay?!" Lein asked, panting heavily.
"Lein, what's happening?!" Reo asked, his eyes wide with fear.
"I-I don't know either!" Lein replied loudly, both of them panicked and fear.
"Lein?! What's happening to your eyes?! Did something happen to you?!" Reo asked with a tone of fear and curiosity.
"This isn't the time to explain, let's get to the city center and find shelter..." Lein said, trying to calm himself and Reo down.
"Hey, you! Come with us if you don't want to fucking die!" Lein shouted to the man who had been standing with Reo earlier, as he continued to run towards the city center with Reo.
The man nodded quickly, his face pale with panic, before following Lein and Reo as they ran.
----
The three of them continued to run towards the city center, as screams of fear and panicked filled the air. The cries and screams of children searching for their parents echoed through the streets, adding to the horror of the incident.
In the middle of the road, people were evacuating themselves by helicopter and plane. Cars crashed into each other, and some people were so desperate that they started attacking each other.
Lein saw a helicopter about to preparing for takeoff, and he saw a woman with yellow hair—none other than Grace, who was attempting to evacuate with her pilot.
"Grace!" Lein shouted loudly, hoping she would hear him.
"L-Lein?! Come here!" Grace called out, quickly running towards him.
As Grace approached, running towards Lein and the others, a bright light shot rapidly towards the four of them from behind her.
"Grace, get down!" Lein shouted again, cradling the cat in his arms as he quickly crouched to avoid the rapidly approaching light.
Lein, Grace, and Reo managed to crouch, but the stranger Lein had brought with Reo earlier wasn't so lucky. The top part of his body was gone and destroyed, and blood pouring out from the remains of his torso.
"What the fuck?!" Reo shouted, his voice laced with shock and horror.
The light shattered into multiple fragments, and from each fragment transformed a winged creature with a shine humanoid body, eyes shining with a golden-white glow, and a sharp spear. They looks like the angels, described in ancient lore and revered religious people.
"Reo, get my cat and Grace into the helicopter now!" Lein ordered, handing the cat over to Reo.
Lein quickly followed, sprinting behind Reo and Grace towards the helicopter. As he ran, he opened his backpack and pulled out a bottle of sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) and a machete.
The angel approached swiftly towards Lein and his companions. Seeing the angel move toward him, Lein threw the bottle of sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) he was holding directly at it.
The bottle couldn't even touch the angel. It shattered and vanished, as if the angel was shielded by an protective barrier transcended, that existed extra-dimensional beyond the bounds of space and time, defied the laws of physics.
The angel shot forward towards Lein at a speed faster than light, its approach visible for a split second to Lein's right eye, which possessed feline-like vision and reflexes. Reacting swiftly, Lein swung his machete in a panicked motion, resorting to his Cause ability for the fourth time. This strike negate the angel's extra-dimensional durability, piercing through space and time, and inflicted significant damage on the angel's body due to Lein's previous blows.
Lein's body fell weak, and he lost his strength, unconscious, and lay motionless on the ground, overwhelmed by the stress and strain of repeatedly using his Cause ability. Reo, who had already reached the helicopter, spotted Lein's condition, he quickly place the cat in the helicopter and rushed back to him.
"Keep surviving, Lein!" with urgency, Reo quickly carried Lein up to the helicopter.
"Get us out of here, now!" Grace ordered the pilot, her voice urgent.
Dust swirled everywhere as the helicopter's rotors whipped up a gust of wind. The helicopter lifted off slowly at first, then quickly took off, soaring into the sky as it headed towards the capital city.
----
The wounded angel rapidly regenerated its body, healing its injuries in an instant. Seeing Lein and his companions fleeing further away, the angel's expression turned rage and fury, and it swiftly closed in on them, moving at an even faster speed than before.
Grace realized the angel would soon catch up to them again. She stood up, her eyes locked intently on the approaching angel, her gaze sharp and intense.
"Die!" Grace shouted, unleashing the power of her Cause, known as Seraphim Eyes.
The approaching angel suddenly froze, its head throbbing as if it was about to explode. It felt an overwhelming stress, unlike anything it had experienced before, as if it was vulnerable like a mortal.
The angel's body began to crack and shatter, its very essence disintegrating include the angel's soul . Grace's Seraphim Eyes had swiftly erased the angel's existence.
"Grace?!" Reo called out, his voice filled with worriedly as he watched Grace's silent, focused form while she utilized her Cause.
Grace's face turned deathly pale, her vision blurry, and her head felt like it was about to explode from the overwhelming stress. Blood began to trickle from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, streaming down her face. Eventually, her body turned weak, losing consciousness like Lein, but in a far more dire and critical than Lein's.
"Miss Grace?!" the pilot asked, his voice laced with panic as he piloted the helicopter. "Is she okay?!"
"I-I don't think so," Reo replied, trying to remain calm despite his panic. "I'll lay them down, to help them to reduce the stress."
Reo activated his Cause, manipulating the minds of Grace and Lein to reduce the overwhelming stress that threatened to consume them.
"Bullshit! I'm not strong enough anymore, I can only reduce their stress a little bit," Reo said, his voice laced with worry and frustration.
Stay calm, we have to hold on and get to the capital as soon as possible. We'll be there soon, just keep looking ahead," the pilot said, his own voice trembling with panic, but trying to calm down Reo and himself that they could get through this.
Reo suddenly felt an intense pressure, his body trembling, his consciousness waning, and the atmosphere around him turned icy cold. Moments later, everything returned to normal.
Reo gazed out, his eyes widening in shock. The capital city was so huge, floating majestically in the air, its sheer size comparable to two nations merged into one.
"That's Medarie, an evacuation and protection hub designed to safeguard against sudden genocides, and the biggest capital city," the pilot explained to Reo.
"Damn," Reo breathed, his eyes still widened.
