Now that she suddenly had so many supplies, Zheng Haoyun decided it was time for a proper reorganization—at the very least, she needed to clear space for sleeping and cooking.
Hmm… all the basic resources should go into wooden crates, and then those crates could be stacked in a single inventory slot.
This was a method she had discovered earlier by exploiting a game bug: the backpack could stack identical items, up to a limit of 999 per slot. Later, she found out even empty wooden crates could be stacked this way.
Since then, she had made full use of the bug, maximizing the storage capacity of her measly five-slot backpack.
The two invaders had actually brought in some pretty good loot. For instance, this mobility card—according to the description, it could be installed on the ice house and would allow her to move the entire structure elsewhere. What a treasure! The ultimate relocation tool!
There was also a backpack expansion card, which added more slots. She quickly used it, and her inventory expanded from five slots to ten. That alone made her incredibly satisfied.
As she tidied up, Zheng Haoyun hummed a little tune to herself, inwardly delighted: What a great day!
In addition to all that, she received:
2 Level-1 energy cards
100 bricks
230 pieces of beast meat
3 plots of Level-1 farmland
Over a dozen fruits and grain seeds...
This haul alone was enough to let her hunker down and eat for over a month without stepping outside.
What excited her the most was that she could finally build her fireplace. Only she knew what a pain it had been to wake up in a daze every night to throw wood into the fire—she hadn't had a decent night's sleep in over ten days.
The new farmland and seeds also meant she could expand her agricultural operations.
As someone born and raised in the "Kingdom of Farming," it was practically in her bones to enjoy growing things herself.
And farming here was practically a no-brainer: just plant the seeds, water them, and add fertilizer. A dream come true for someone with clumsy hands!
Her old plot of land was already used up—reduced to nothing but a block of dirt. She repurposed it as a doormat at the entrance.
Honestly, nothing beat robbing robbers for rapid wealth accumulation. Zheng Haoyun was starting to hope she'd get more of these "delivery boys."
Just as that thought crossed her mind, she noticed over a thousand new messages popping up in the regional chat. Curious, she tapped in.
Turned out, plenty of other people had similar experiences.
A Fish with Self-Defined Destiny: "Guys, have you noticed a lot of people have been disappearing lately?"
Drama Queen Extraordinaire: "You haven't been robbed yet? There's a gang using maps bought from the game store to go on a killing and looting spree. I ran into them earlier—lucky for me, I managed to kill them instead."
Qingbei One-Stop Dragon: "Damn, you actually beat them? That's impressive. Wanna be friends? We can help each other in the future."
I'm Just a Little Useless: "Is there a kind soul who can come protect me? My luck stat is super high—I'll open loot crates for you!"
Concerned Bystander: "Hey, 'I'm Just a Little Useless,' word of advice: you'd better rely on yourself. What if the one who comes is a wolf in sheep's clothing? They could trap you and force you to open boxes for them—or worse, just kill you outright."
...
For a while, the regional chat was filled with powerless survivors venting their frustration and fear toward the raiders.
Then, someone with the handle "Heartless Gang Leader Zhou" shamelessly posted photos of their plunder—right there in public chat. The game didn't even censor it and helpfully zoomed in on the high-res gore.
To top it off, the guy added a ridiculously arrogant caption:
"This is the price of going against us. Trash deserves to die. Anyone else badmouthing us will be next. I've already remembered the names of those who ran their mouths."
The images showed corpses of slaughtered survivors in gruesome detail, leaving some emotionally fragile people bawling in fear.
Those who had just been trash-talking the raiders frantically tried to delete their comments, only to be met with the game's cold message:
"Sorry. Once posted, messages cannot be withdrawn."
Faced with both an irreversible post and direct threats, the panicked survivors had no idea what to do.
Some, however, remained defiant:
"I ain't afraid of you bastards. Think you're tough? Try me. You're not the only ones who can fight."
And so, a new round of verbal warfare erupted in the chat.
By now, Zheng Haoyun had lost interest in the drama.
Clearly, a lot of people had been targeted by looters. The ones still chatting were either lucky or strong enough to survive.
In her opinion, luck only bought you temporary reprieve in this world. Real strength was the only thing that ensured lasting survival.
Before she could dwell on it, all survivors suddenly received a global announcement:
"Brave survivors, you are about to face a 15-day-long Arctic Snowstorm. Good luck—and may you live through it."
As Zheng Haoyun stared at the clown-faced emoji at the bottom of the announcement, she couldn't help but feel it was a mockery. The storm was set to hit in five minutes, and only now were they getting a warning? Most people wouldn't even have time to prepare.
Sure enough, the chat argument ended abruptly. Everyone switched topics and began discussing the incoming storm.
Of course, only those with ample supplies had the luxury of chatting on the regional or world channels at a time like this.
Others were already flooding the game store, frantically buying whatever cheap food and drinking water they could find.
Unfortunately, the store's stock wasn't unlimited. It restocked on a daily limit.
Zheng Haoyun figured this was intentional. The game was clearly toying with its survivors by offering limited resources and dangling survival just out of reach.
Still, the snowstorm wasn't all bad. At the very least, it had interrupted the looters' movements.
Some of the raiders even got caught in the storm and were torn to shreds before they could make it back.
What no one knew yet was that the blizzard wouldn't just bring a food shortage—it would also unleash other hidden dangers.
And the game? It had no intention of telling anyone what those were.
