Chapter 1: Electric Eyes

It was around 8 AM, and rain still poured down steadily over the city.

In a hospital emergency ward on the outskirts, a patient lay unconscious on a bed. His arms and legs were wrapped in bandages, and no one knew exactly how long he'd been out.

Suddenly—without warning—the hospital's entire electrical system blinked out. For a split second, everything shut down. And in that moment, something strange happened.

A faint line of electricity sparked along the patient's right hand—just for an instant—before vanishing as quickly as it had come. A second later, the hospital's systems came back online as if nothing had happened.

The patient stirred.

His name was Yang Tie, a high school student who had been hit by a Ferrari the night before. As his eyes slowly opened, he immediately felt something was off. His mind felt shaken. His vision... distorted.

He rubbed his eyes.

"Ouch," he muttered. They still ached a little from the accident.

But when he opened them again, he froze. His vision was crystal clear—clearer than it had ever been.

He could see everything in incredible detail. He could see tiny mosquitoes buzzing around, even track their flight paths. He could see particles floating in the air—germs, maybe? It was unbelievable.

Across the room hung a small painting. Though not tiny, it was far enough that most people—especially those with poor eyesight—would struggle to make it out. But Yang Tie could see it perfectly.

Before the accident, he had mild vision issues. Glasses had been recommended, but he'd never bought them—he couldn't afford to. (Poor guy...)

As he studied the painting, something stranger happened.

The wall suddenly appeared... transparent.

He could see through it—two women were talking in the hallway. One wore a white nurse's uniform; clearly hospital staff. The other looked to be in her late twenties or early thirties, dressed in high-end clothes—probably a rich visitor. But Yang Tie didn't recognize her.

"Wait… is this X-ray vision?" he thought, eyes widening.

He turned his gaze to the wall beside it. Again, it turned see-through. On the other side, he saw a man in a white lab coat—a doctor—and a woman in a nurse's outfit. They were… very close. Doing something… not professional.

Yang Tie's face turned red.

He quickly averted his eyes. At just 15 years old, and still a virgin, this was way too much. He hadn't had much contact with girls, but he definitely knew what that was. (How he knew… well, that's a secret.)

"It must be X-ray vision," he confirmed to himself.

On the table beside him was a small mirror. He picked it up and looked at his reflection. There were a few scratches on his face, covered in bandages. Otherwise, he looked normal—until he focused on his eyes.

In both eyes, tiny streaks of lightning danced, like cats playing with glowing yarn.

"Eh?" He touched his eyes instinctively.

Zzt!

He flinched from the faint electric shock.

Quickly, he closed his eyes. When he reopened them, the lightning was gone—and so was the X-ray vision. He tried to look through the wall again, but saw only a blank surface.

He closed his eyes once more and opened them after a moment.

The wall turned transparent again.

He checked the mirror—and the lightning had returned in both eyes.

"Looks like this lightning is the cause of the X-ray vision… let's call them 'Electric Eyes'."(Cool name, right?)

He tested the vision again by focusing on the opposite wall. The two women were still there. He tried to zoom in on the nurse.

Suddenly—

"Ouch!"A sharp pain shot through his head.

Startled, he pulled his gaze back and set the mirror down.

"Still… this is amazing," he whispered, both excited and cautious. He didn't know if this ability was a gift or a curse. For now, he decided not to use it too much.

Next, he checked his clothes. Aside from the bandages, he was still wearing the same clothes from last night.

He fumbled through his pockets with some difficulty.

"My paycheck... it's missing!"He nearly cried. That was his entire week's pay.

Just then, he heard the door open.

He immediately shut his eyes, then opened them again—deactivating the Electric Eyes.

"It's best to keep this a secret for now."He didn't want anyone to find out—not the hospital, not scientists, and definitely not any weird organizations. He had no desire to become some lab rat.

There were still three months until school started. He didn't know yet if these eyes were truly useful or dangerous. But since there hadn't been any serious side effects yet, he chose to stay silent—for now.

What he didn't know was that from this moment on, his destiny would change forever.

The hospital room door creaked open.

Two people entered.
