I immediately opened my eyes and my gaze landed on two people, mother and Gemma. I did see Gemma but my eyes remained fixed on mother.

She looked so weak, so pale. Her brown eyes had lost their spark staring back at me with this deep void inside them.

" Mother—" I muttered and she looked at me with a frown. " What did you say?" She snapped as she approached me, her voice darker and lower than I'd remembered.
