Chapter 39: The Lizard Strikes Back

Seeing Jimmy appear, Peter froze for a moment. "Master, why are you here?" Jimmy just shrugged and tossed him a bottle of spray. "Here! Actually, I just came to ask — how strong is that big lizard?"

Peter sighed helplessly. "He's getting stronger by the day! He's even stronger than you now…"

Hearing this, Jimmy gave a resigned smile. "Looks like we'll have to fight him together then."

"Yeah!" Peter nodded. Then, looking at the bottle in his hand, he asked curiously, "What is this?"

"It's for quickly healing wounds," Jimmy replied.

"Oh!" Peter nodded and sprayed it onto the three claw marks on his chest. "Whoa! Amazing!" Peter and Gwen exclaimed in unison, as the gashes healed completely in just three seconds.

"Alright, give it back!" Jimmy raised his left hand, shot a web, and yanked the spray bottle back.

At that moment, Gwen hurried over, asking excitedly, "Oh my God! Can I study it?"

"No way!" Jimmy shrugged, and after speaking, he jumped out the window and swung away between the buildings.

"So cool…" Gwen sighed. Meanwhile, Peter hugged her from behind and whispered in her ear, "Let's go out for a bit too…"

On a rooftop, Jimmy — wearing his black Spider-Man suit — looked at the serum in his hand, muttering, "Stronger than me… huh…"

The next morning, Jimmy, Peter, and Gwen were at their lockers. Suddenly, Jimmy's sharp hearing picked up something strange, and screams from the students followed. A group of terrified students ran around the corner, as if something was chasing them.

Jimmy and Peter turned quickly — and there it was: the Lizard emerged from around the corner.

"Run!" Peter shouted at Gwen. Just then, Jimmy saw Karen, lost in thought, get knocked down by fleeing students.

"Karen!" Jimmy shouted. Karen looked up and saw the massive green lizard-man, screaming in terror. "Roar!" Annoyed by her scream, the Lizard instinctively swung his claws at her.

"Ah!" Seeing the claws coming closer, Karen shut her eyes in fear — but then she heard a loud bang. Surprised, she opened her eyes to see Jimmy tackling the Lizard.

"Run!" Jimmy turned and shouted at Karen.

The Lizard grabbed Jimmy by the head and hurled him into a wall.

"Jimmy!" Karen called out anxiously.

"Peter! Get her out of here!" Jimmy shook his head and charged at the Lizard again, shouting at Peter.

"Hang in there!" Peter yelled, then helped the tearful Karen flee the school. Seeing this, Jimmy sighed in relief — but at that moment, he heard a whoosh behind him and immediately rolled aside.

Crack! The Lizard's tail slammed into the wall where Jimmy had just been.

Seeing Jimmy dodge, the Lizard roared in fury and charged at him — only to be sent flying back even faster.

"Roar!" The Lizard shook his head, then looked at Jimmy and demanded, "Who… are you?!"

Jimmy lowered his fist, exhaled, and calmly answered, "Peter's teacher."

The Lizard froze, then repeated, "What? You're Peter's teacher?"

"Exactly!" Jimmy nodded with a smile.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared in rage and pounced at Jimmy. Jimmy braced himself, but at that moment, a figure leaped past him and kicked the Lizard away.

"Master, I'm here!" said Peter, now in his red Spider-Man suit.

"Good! He's all yours!" Jimmy shouted and ran down the hallway. After turning a corner, he quickly stripped off his clothes, put on his mask and gloves.

"Peter Parker!" The Lizard stood back up and growled coldly.

"Hi, Dr. Connors! I think we need to talk!" Peter said, waving his hands.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared and lunged at Peter. Peter ducked, shooting a web to wrap around the Lizard's legs, yanked hard, and tripped him. He then jumped on the Lizard's back — but the Lizard grabbed him and smashed him into a classroom.

The Lizard stepped inside, roaring, "You have nowhere to run!"

"I wouldn't say that!" A cold voice came from behind. Before the Lizard could react, he was kicked and sent flying. He got up, stunned, and saw a black-suited Spider-Man standing in front of him.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared again and charged at Jimmy, but suddenly his legs were tangled by a web. Losing balance, the Lizard fell forward — Jimmy took the chance and delivered an uppercut to his chin. Boom! The Lizard flew backward, crashing heavily.

"Nice job!" Jimmy gave a thumbs-up to Peter, the red-suited Spider-Man.

"Roar!" Enraged, the Lizard got up and charged at Peter. But Jimmy shot another web, wrapping around his leg again. Peter followed up with a flying kick, knocking the Lizard back once more.

"Hehe!" Peter gave Jimmy a thumbs-up in return.

"Damn it!" The Lizard roared again, stood up, and immediately jumped. His tail whipped at Peter while his fist punched toward Jimmy.

Peter jumped backward, narrowly dodging the tail. Jimmy grabbed the Lizard's arm with both hands and felt a powerful force pushing back. After sliding back three steps to deflect the momentum, Jimmy flipped the Lizard over his shoulder.

Peter quickly raised both arms and fired webs, binding the Lizard's hands.

"Roar!" The Lizard struggled fiercely, breaking free from the webs. Just then, Jimmy's punch smashed into his face. Jimmy was about to throw another punch when the Lizard slapped him away.

Peter launched a flying kick at the Lizard, but it barely worked. The Lizard roared and punched Peter away, then dashed toward the bathroom — realizing he couldn't win against two Spider-Men at once.

Jimmy and Peter chased after him, finding a hole in the bathroom floor.

"Let me guess… that's probably where he came from!" Peter said, scratching his chin.

"Don't guess! It's obvious! Let's go!!" Jimmy shouted and jumped into the hole.

"Hey, wait for me!" Peter said helplessly, jumping after him.

Jimmy landed in the sewer and looked around. "As expected of New York… even the sewers are fancy," he muttered.
