Chapter 40: Stop Him

Jimmy and Peter were walking through the sewer when suddenly Peter's phone rang. Peter awkwardly pulled it out of his backpack under Jimmy's unimpressed gaze.

"Hello? Where are you?" Gwen's voice came anxiously from the other end.

"I'm fine!" Peter quickly replied.

"Oh? And Jimmy?"

"Master's fine too, he's right next to me!"

"Haha, Karen was so worried about Jimmy!" Gwen said helplessly.

Hearing this, Jimmy froze. He immediately pulled out his indestructible Nokia from his space ring and saw dozens of missed calls — all from Karen! He hurriedly called her back.

The call was picked up immediately. "Jimmy, where are you?!" Karen asked anxiously.

"Don't worry, I'm fine!" Jimmy didn't really know what else to say.

"Then… where are you now?" Karen pressed.

"Uh… I'm helping Spider-Man fight the Lizard right now," Jimmy paused for a moment and replied helplessly.

"What?! You— Please be careful!" Karen fell silent for a second, then said softly.

"I know! Don't worry. And… keep this a secret for me, okay?" Jimmy laughed lightly.

After Jimmy hung up, Peter also ended his call. The two looked at each other and nodded silently, then started running forward. Soon, they found Dr. Connors' underground lab at a junction in the sewer. On the computer screen, the Lizard's insane theory of turning humans into lizards was playing.

"Looks like the doctor is planning something big!" Jimmy said, glancing at the empty gene serum bottles on the table.

"We have to stop him!" Peter shouted urgently.

Jimmy nodded.

Above ground, in the middle of a city street, a sewer cover suddenly flipped open. Jimmy in his black Spider-Man suit and Peter in his red suit burst out.

"Oh no! Gwen is still at Oscorp!" Peter shouted anxiously.

"Call her! I'll go ahead!!" Jimmy shouted, immediately shooting a web and swinging rapidly through the skyscrapers.

Very quickly, Jimmy arrived at Oscorp and saw the huge Lizard climbing up the tenth floor. Jimmy snorted coldly and jumped over.

"Lizard! Let's have a real fight!" Jimmy said in a low voice, then stretched out his left hand to wrap around the Lizard's neck.

On a nearby helicopter, two police officers were watching.

"Captain! There's a black Spider-Man fighting the Lizard monster!" one officer shouted.

In another helicopter, the middle-aged blond police captain frowned. He knew there were two Spider-Men!

"Forget it! Arrest the red one at all costs!" Maybe it was a father's instinct to dislike his daughter's boyfriend — in any case, Gwen's dad targeted Peter first.

On Oscorp's tower, Jimmy wasn't having an easy time. He realized that the Lizard had grown even stronger!

"Roar!" The Lizard broke free of Jimmy's grip and roared, "I'm stronger now! You can't beat me!"

Jimmy narrowed his eyes and replied coldly, "Heh… we'll see about that."

Jimmy sneered, and five sharp claws suddenly extended from his left hand.

"Oh!" The Lizard looked at him in surprise.

"Hah!" Jimmy shouted and lunged at the Lizard.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared back, charging at Jimmy. The two collided midair and tumbled down from the building, grappling fiercely as they fell. Suddenly, the Lizard grabbed onto the building's glass with his claws.

Jimmy kicked the Lizard, then also clung to the glass with his spider grip. But then, the Lizard crashed straight through the glass into the building interior. Jimmy followed immediately.

As soon as Jimmy entered, a powerful gust of wind smashed into his face — the Lizard's sneak attack. Jimmy dodged quickly, then slashed three deep wounds into the Lizard's right arm with his left claws. However, to Jimmy's shock, the wounds healed almost instantly.

"Roar!" The Lizard let out an angry roar and lunged at Jimmy again, wrestling him fiercely. Only now did Jimmy truly realize just how much stronger the Lizard had become!

If the Lizard who ambushed them that morning had a combat power of around 500, the current Lizard's power was at least 800!

Very quickly, Jimmy was grabbed and thrown into a wall. He shook his head and stood back up, only to see the Lizard opening a hole in the ceiling and climbing up.

"Damn it! He's gotten so much stronger!" Jimmy cursed and quickly chased after him.

After climbing three floors, Jimmy saw Gwen standing anxiously.

"Gwen! Why are you still here?! Where's the Lizard?!" Jimmy demanded urgently.

"He took the dispersal device! This is the antidote!" Gwen said, handing a blue serum to Jimmy.

"Okay! I'll stop him! You get out of here now!" Jimmy said, grabbing the serum and dashing toward the rooftop.

On the rooftop, Jimmy saw the Lizard climbing the steel tower with something in his arms.

"Hmph!" Jimmy snorted, shot webs, and wrapped them around both of the Lizard's legs. With a forceful yank, the Lizard was pulled down several meters.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared furiously and tore off the webs with his right hand. But just as he freed himself, Jimmy shot more webs, binding the Lizard's hand this time. Another strong pull sent the Lizard crashing down again.

"Roar!" The Lizard howled in rage.

"Hmph!" Jimmy charged at him. This time, his goal was to grab the bag the Lizard carried. As he lunged, a white dagger suddenly appeared in Jimmy's empty right hand.

During their clash, Jimmy tackled the Lizard, wrapping his left arm around the Lizard's neck. With the dagger in his right hand, he sliced open the bag — spilling seven gene serum sprays everywhere.

Jimmy didn't even have time to celebrate before the Lizard grabbed him and threw him hard. Jimmy flipped in the air and landed on his feet, then quickly shot webs to pull all the spilled serums to himself.

"Roar!" The Lizard roared furiously, looking at the single green serum left in his hand — while Jimmy held six.

"Where's my serum?!" the Lizard roared in fury.

Jimmy smirked coldly. "Beat me first — then we'll talk!" he growled, dashing at the Lizard once more.
