## Hazel's POV

The morning traffic crawled along the highway as I gripped my steering wheel tightly. My thoughts were a jumble of anxiety and uncertainty. I needed to call Sebastian and cancel our lunch plans. This family emergency couldn't wait.

I connected my phone to the car's Bluetooth system and dialed Sebastian's number. My heart raced as I waited through three rings before he answered.

"Good morning, beautiful," Sebastian's deep voice filled the car.

"Hey," I replied, trying to keep my tone light. "I need to cancel our lunch. Something's come up with my family."

A brief silence followed.

"Is everything okay?" Sebastian asked, concern evident in his voice.
