The Night's Arrangement

## Hazel's POV

"Yes, your handkerchief," I said, enjoying Sebastian's surprised expression. "I still have it, you know. Washed and pressed. I think of it as your first token of affection."

Sebastian's eyes softened. "It wasn't planned. I just couldn't stand seeing you cry."

"Yet here we are." I smiled, tracing the rim of my wine glass. "Funny how life works out."

He reached across the table and took my hand. "So you're saying my debt was paid long ago with a simple handkerchief?"

"I'm saying tokens of affection aren't the same as business transactions." I squeezed his hand but kept my voice firm. "I appreciate the gesture, Sebastian, but I insist on separating business from our relationship."

Sebastian studied me for a long moment. "You're incredibly stubborn."

"Part of my charm," I replied, pulling out my phone. "Now watch me transfer several million dollars to your account."

His laugh was deep and genuine. "Most women would be thrilled to have their debts forgiven."
