Mysterious Dimension Agency?
Later that night while Shift was patrolling the area from different crimes , he decided to take a short rest on a nearby building. Just taking in the moment of peace
"Man this city can be pretty sometimes…when people ain't ruining it." Shift says to himself as he looks over at Kalos's night life. Futuristic buildings with neon lights and advertisements on electronic boards.
…suddenly a voice pierced through from the shadows.
"The two people you and your friend captured today are connected to someone seriously dangerous. If they have appeared then something here on this world is on his radar"
Shift jumps into action powering up straight away. Hands covered in blue light ready to create in the instant, however the people walk out the shadows revealing themselves. They're in futuristic outfits that look out of this world. Matching uniforms but different to their unique style with the same logo printed on it. A unique looking arrowhead with two swords behind it. Bold lettering 'UDDA' within.
"We got here abit too late… but after seeing your powers today during your patrols we believe it's 'you' that is on that man's radar. Not to mention one of them escaped while on the way to the prison and teleported away" the man with long black twisted hair explains.
He continues
"So that means you're definitely going to be on his radar now if not already. Also we are not here to fight you"
Shift looks a little sceptical.
"Wait…so how long have you been following me for? and why do you think they're after me?" Shift asks while slowly powering down
The man with black hair quickly replies
"Ahh not that long but we had to make sure it was you and not the other hero so maybe about half and hour…give or take"
"Seriously? I didn't notice anything like that"
Shift says confused
The other one with red hair with orange highlights at the bottom cuts in and explains
"Earlier you opened a portal to another universe. 'Universe 115' also known as 'The Sun Ate Universe' we don't know properly but something in that universe feasts on suns…hence the name"
Shifts eyes on the mask widen showing his surprised
"Wait, I opened one to another universe for real? I was imagining it but I didn't know it actually worked" Shift responds shocked
the one with long black hair explains
"Yes you did and because of that we managed to scan your power signature and it's very similar to His. We believe that's what he is after."
"Okay say this is all true…who are you guys and how do you know all of this exactly?" Shift asks
"We are 'U.D.D.A'…which stands for Ultimate Dimension Defense Agency. We protect the dimensions from great threats. The guy that we believe is after your power is one of those threats. We've been after for some time now and so we'd like you to join us and help the universes" he says while holding his hand out towards Shift.
The next morning in the sanctuary Kaleb explains what happens to Jamie as he looked shocked
"So wait dimensions actually exist? I knew it!! I just didn't know how to prove it" Jamie says excitedly
"This is crazy! I need to see what else is there to learn and prove!" Jamie adds , lost in his own world.
"Focus bro! Yes they exist but for now what do you think I should do about their offer" Kaleb says as he is infusing fire into a piece of Jamie's suit as Sage absorbs it storing it for later use.
"Okay, well I mean we don't know if their offer is legit but we don't know if it isn't , meaning you could actually be in danger…not to mention when I was fighting one of them he said 'you're not the one we're after'" Jamie replies
"Now that you mention it , when I was fighting my enemy he said their boss was after me! So I guess that kind of aligns with what those UDDA guys were saying" Kaleb replies, while now infusing light and dark into it
"Honestly , I say you do it! There's more pros than cons. You'll get to explore different worlds and dimensions plus you will get a lot of experience like fighting or universal knowledge. Not to mention if you feel like there is anything weird going on , you can teleport out back here" Jamie ensures
"That's true plus I want to make a contingency plan just in case. That means you'll have to protect Kalos alone! Are you ready for that?" Shift says as he finishes charging Overform's suit with his own energy source.
Kalebs tone changes into a more serious tone
"Jamie I infused my own energy into the suit. Only use it for emergencies like life or death"
"Definitely bro! You can count on me for sure and I understand" Jamie responds, confidently
Kaleb stands up after finishing infusing Jamie's suit , places his hand into his pocket and gets a flashback to last night where he was talking to the U.D.D.A agents.
Last night.
The long black haired man has his hand out towards Shift.
"I'll have to think about it" Kaleb replies
"We understand, please take this communicator and when you have made a decision please contact us by pressing the button" they reply as they hand over the device"
Back in the present—
Kaleb clicks the button on the device he was given. Beep.
"Let's do this! I'm in!" Kaleb says with excitement in his eyes.
Two days have passed.
U.D.D.A HQ 'The Citadel Verge' is located outside normal time flow in a 'Null-dimension.' A huge futuristic ship sitting dormant but scanning all known universes for dangers.
Shift is greeted by the two agents that he met that night.
"Hey, welcome! We meet again" the long black haired man says excitedly
"We didn't get to formally meet like time…I'm Elias and the quite one red head is Keno" he adds
"What's up" Keno says with a wave
"Nice to meet you properly. I'm Shift"
"You're gonna keep your mask on?…suit yourself, I understand anyways let's get moving and find Mr. Lark" Elias says as he starts walking. He begins giving Shift a short tour of the Citadel Verge' as they walk to find the leader of U.D.D.A.
Pointing at a room full of tech/engineering specialists hard at work. Creating and testing different types of technology.
"Down there we have the 'Tech & Engineering Division (TED)'
they help out with tech gear for powered and non-powered agents plus other good stuff…cool right?" Elias says like he trying to sell him something
Keno looks unimpressed as if he has seen it many times.
They walk towards a training facility. Agents are sparing, honing their powers and weapon tech.
"This is the Rift Operations Command or ROC for short. It's where the field agents like us operate from , it also dubs as a training facility"
Rooms full of people talking , sparring and weapon maintenance.
Elias says as they walk into the room. He turns to Shift
"I'm gonna go find the boss and tell him that you're here , gimme a sec…Keno stay with him"
Keno nods.
Not long after a group of three approaches…The main one in the middle speaks first. A buzz cut with a unique lightning symbol on the sides.
"So this guy is the one that's meant to be a big threat to 'The Displacer' he says smugly as his lackeys laugh in the background
"That's Braeden Kama. Ignore him , he is always like that" Keno whispers to Shift
'The Displacer…' Kaleb thinks to himself confused unaware of what Keno just said
"Are we just recruiting anybody these days?" He says looking around , trying to get a reaction from the crowd.
"You don't seem like much to me" Braeden adds
Shift looks at them up and down and responds
"Didn't your parents ever teach you the quote 'never judge a book by its cover'?"
"Oh yeah? Well why don't you prove your mettle right here right now?" Braeden mockingly says in order to provoke him
…he succeeded!
Maybe it was because Shift felt disrespected or maybe he was simply itching for a fight.
"Okay why don't you three come at me together…don't cry when you lose" Shift says while walking on to the mat.
That seemed to annoy them. They follow him to the map.
"This little brat! Really thinks he can take us all on" one of them says
"That will be his downfall" Braeden says as he laughs arrogantly
Keno sighs
"I guess I'll be the official referee , I want a clean fight! No bullshit"
Shift excitedly gets ready summoning a bo staff and spins it round
"Of course! Wouldn't expect it any other way"
"Hmph! Just start the fight already" Braeden says
"You may begin…fight" Keno says
As soon as Keno finishes his sentence , the two lackeys rush towards Shift. Running forwards Shift from both sides trying to pinch attack him. They seem to be non-powered and use the tech that Elias mentioned earlier on. They bring out a yellow blade that can easily cut steel effectively. It looks like it could cut the aura of the world within the right hands.
They both try to swing the blade at Shift at the same time. He dodges their strikes himself with no portal. Teleporting himself. He appears behind them and as he spins his body, rotating the bo staff while extending it in length into both of them. Sending them flying away.
"Too slow" Shift says while spinning the bo staff
"Oh so you might actually have some skill…but you said too slow earlier…so you actually think you're fast?" Braeden says while infusing orange lightning around himself
"We will see about that," he adds.
As soon as he finished the sentence he was gone. Disappeared. Suddenly he appears in Shift's face charging up a punch , Shift just manages to dodge by teleporting himself into the air however Braeden was there already. Matching his speed. They begin a game of cat and mouse as Shift is teleporting to new places and Braeden matches him with immense speed. They keep attacking and blocking each other , it seems pretty fair in terms of speed.
Elias walks in with the leader of HQ. A man with long grey locs
"Keno, how can you let this happen?"
"They wanted to test each other and it would be good to see how Shift fights and how he thinks during them" Keno replies
The boss is standing watching the fight and it seems his eyes can keep up with ease.
Shift begins using his portals to teleport, although his speed has increased Braeden still catches up relatively easily.
'I've never actually fought anyone that can move almost as fast as me when I'm portal hopping so I never really thought about increasing my own speed' Shift thinks to himself as he is dodging and blocking shots from Braeden
He thinks back to how his disc would gain speed from the lightning and decided to infuse it in himself while subconsciously adding 'Absolute light' into it. Turning it into a hybrid 'Absolute Lightning'
A pure and violent light blue appears around Shift , coating him slightly as lightning pulsates off him.
"Did the element of his power just change?" Braeden says , shocked
"It's similar to mine but for some reason it feels a lot more older and pure" he adds
"He has gotten even faster now…it's over for Braeden" Elias says
Keno nods in agreement.
Braeden tried to run at Shift with full speed but to Shift he was almost in slow motion. Shift opens a portal behind him and jumps backwards into it suddenly another portal opens up and he flies out like a charged rail gun…
Luckily enough the main boss from HQ managed to get in the way and block Shift's attack easily , with what looked like his bare hands, however there was a slight gap indicating he used some sort of invisible power of sorts.
Breaden looked terrified as if he knew if that attack connected, he would no longer be here apart of this world…
The older man with locs looks down to Shift
"Welcome to U.D.D.A HQ , I'm the leader here, my name is Lark! It's nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you from Elias and Keno there and they didn't disappoint…now shall we continue?"
