Empress of the Thirteenth Night

Long ago, the world thrived in harmony as humans ruled the Earth and the Six Celestials governed the heavens. Humans offered devotion, and in return, the Celestials bestowed their blessings, granting entry to paradise for the devout. This divine order endured for millennia—until the Arion Empire, humanity’s greatest unifier, defied the heavens by attempting to bind all humans to a single cosmic destiny.



Their rebellion sparked a devastating war between mankind and the gods, ending with the Celestials' victory and the empire's collapse. In the ashes of defeat, the last Arion heir invoked forbidden magic to rupture the boundary between realms, unleashing the cursed phenomenon known as the Thirteen Nights.



Every fifty years, this cycle plunges humanity into days of ecstasy and nights of ancestral terror. To end the suffering, human sorcerers convene on the twelfth night to choose a Sacred Bride, who must sacrifice herself by drowning in the holy River Nyx on the final night—an offering meant to restore balance. This cycle of fear, sacrifice, and celestial appeasement has persisted unbroken for 1,450 years.
