Chapter 9

Only after the door clicked shut did Adrian walk over to me. "I just got out of a meeting, and when I got back to my office, I found her hiding under my desk. I didn't touch her. She took her clothes off on her own, you saw it. Don't misunderstand me."

"I'll tell the security guard downstairs not to let her in again."

I said, "Whatever you want."

My attitude clearly displeased him. "Cynthia, what is that supposed to mean?"

I explained, "What I mean is, we're about to break our mate bond anyway. You don't have to explain yourself to me about other she-wolves."

Adrian seemed to grow flustered and angry. "Cynthia, stop being unreasonable!"

I let out a short laugh. "Me, unreasonable? Adrian, I'm serious. We are breaking our mate bond."

He froze, his face darkening. "Break the mate bond? Don't even think about it!"

I had no more words for him and turned to leave.
