I looked at him helplessly. "Adrian, will you please snap out of it? There's no future for us. If you keep clinging to me like this, you'll only cause more pain for us both."

He simply wasn't listening. "Cynthia, what on earth are you talking about? You don't love me? Then who do you love?"

"Have you forgotten what you told me on the night of the full moon? Didn't you say I was the only mate you would ever have? How could you possibly not love me?"

"Between us, you could come and go as you please, take whatever you wanted. I gave in to you on everything. What more do you want from me?"

"Why are you clinging to this one mistake of mine? You knew it was wrong when you first seduced me, but didn't you see that mistake through to the end, just like I did?"

His questions, laced with condemnation, made the pain I had been suppressing burst forth.

I shoved him away. "Adrian! You cheated! Do you even realize that?! How can you be so self-righteous about it?!"
