While kaso and Ausbi'er were enjoying roasted meat in the wilderness…
Far across the stars, at Frieza's headquarters in the Northern Galaxy, events were unfolding.
It was a colossal technological planet, surrounded by countless smaller satellites—each one forming a tight ring around the central core. Like a starry wall, they moved in synchronized orbit, forming an impenetrable defense network. With the support of advanced galactic technology, these satellites were wrapped in protective barriers so secure that even a fly would struggle to sneak through.
Combined with Frieza's central command and his elite forces, this headquarters was truly an ironclad fortress.
Within the command chamber, a dark oval-shaped hover pod—shaped like an egg—floated slowly through the air. Its black and brown exterior gleamed ominously. At the front was an open cockpit, where a sinister-looking alien sat.
Blood-red eyes, purple-black lips, and two streaks of red running down from beneath his eyes like bleeding tears. His skin was a sickly pale white, armored in gleaming violet plates. The cold, sinister aura radiating from him made the very air tremble.
This was Frieza.
"Dodoria, these little Saiyan monkeys are getting restless lately..." Frieza crossed his arms over the front of the hover pod, his slitted serpent-like eyes gazing upward with an air of elegance.
Following behind him was Dodoria, a bulky pink-skinned alien with spiked protrusions on his head and arms.
At Frieza's words, Dodoria hurried forward, not daring to waste a second.
"Those damned Saiyan monkeys don't know how good they've got it. Serving under Lord Frieza should be considered an honor!" Dodoria said disdainfully. "If it weren't for their decent combat power, I'd have wiped them out myself already."
"Ahahaha~" Frieza let out his signature high-pitched, wicked laugh.
The pod spun around in place as Frieza turned to face Dodoria.
"Your loyalty is touching, Dodoria. It pleases me greatly."
Dodoria beamed with joy. To receive such praise from Frieza was like being blessed by a god. He bowed deeply, placing one hand over his chest in a show of absolute submission.
"I shall serve Lord Frieza with my life!"
Frieza nodded in satisfaction—then, suddenly, his expression hardened.
A terrifying pressure burst from his tiny frame.
Though small in stature, the sheer power he unleashed made the hover pod feel like little more than a toy. The entire palace trembled under the weight of his ki.
A frigid, ghostly chill spread through every corner of the command chamber, like a gust of wind from the underworld itself.
Crack!
A thin layer of frost formed in the darker corners of the room.
Dodoria began to tremble.
Had he said something wrong?!
Then, in a chilling, raspy voice, Frieza said:
"Dodoria, would you like to witness the most beautiful fireworks in the universe?"
Dodoria's eyes widened in delight. He knew what that meant.
Every time Frieza said those words, it meant only one thing: a planet was about to be destroyed.
And this time, all signs pointed to Planet Vegeta.
"Time's up, filthy monkeys…" Dodoria muttered under his breath.
He had long grown tired of the prideful, arrogant Saiyans—especially given their relatively low combat strength.
"Dodoria, send a message to King Vegeta. Tell him I want all Saiyans currently off-world to return to Planet Vegeta within one month. I wish to... pay the planet a visit."
"Oh, and I've heard he has a rather gifted son. Have him sent to headquarters to serve me personally."
"Understood!"
Planet Vegeta.
Inside a Saiyan command hall, King Vegeta sat at the head of the table. Lined up on either side were powerful Saiyan warriors—each wearing their standard armor and sporting the iconic monkey-like tails around their waists.
Among them was a familiar face—a man who looked a great deal like Goku.
Bardock.
"King Vegeta, what's so urgent that you summoned all of us?" Bardock asked, brows furrowed.
Two months ago, his mate Gine had just given birth to their son, Kakarot. Bardock had been caring for them when he received an emergency summons. He rushed over, only to find that not just he—but many of the Saiyan elites—had also been called in.
What kind of mission required so many high-level warriors?
Were they about to invade a top-tier planet?
"Frieza has issued an order," King Vegeta began solemnly. "He wants all Saiyans currently off-planet to return within one month."
"Huh?" Bardock's eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"What's he planning now? Is it just another campaign?"
Others around the table began murmuring among themselves, confusion and unease spreading through the group.
King Vegeta raised both hands to quiet them.
"Frieza claims he wants to visit Planet Vegeta," he said. "He wants us to gather all the Saiyans to welcome him. That's all we know for now."
"Until we know more, just get the troops home. We don't want Frieza getting suspicious of our... other activities."
The room fell silent. Everyone understood the unspoken meaning.
"That's all for now. Meeting adjourned."
As the crowd began to disperse, Bardock's heart grew heavier.
Something wasn't right.
This meeting… It felt like the spark to a ticking time bomb.
That night, after finishing household chores, Bardock lay in bed with Gine, hoping for a moment of peace.
But after just half an hour of sleep, he suddenly shot up in bed—drenched in sweat.
His breathing was ragged. His heart pounded in his chest like a war drum.
"Frieza… terrifying…"
He had seen something in his dreams—something far too vivid to ignore.
Unlike normal dreams that faded upon waking, this one had been crystal clear, every detail burned into his memory.
In the dream, Frieza possessed an overwhelming power level: 530,000!
In contrast, no Saiyan warrior had a power level even near 20,000.
Even the great ape transformation only pushed them to around 100,000 at best.
They couldn't win.
"Bardock? Are you okay? A nightmare?" Gine sat up, worry in her voice.
"...I'm fine." Bardock forced a smile, trying to calm her down.
But Gine knew him too well. She could tell he was hiding something.
Still, she didn't press the issue. "Then let's get some rest," she said softly.
"Yeah..." Bardock lay back down.
But his heart wouldn't stop racing.
Frieza's order wasn't simple.
What happened today…
It matched the nightmare exactly.
What should I do?
