[39]. The Gravity Chamber Is Complete

"Are you Goku's relatives?" Grandpa Gohan asked eagerly.

Then he realized something. "Wait—'Goku' is the name I gave him. Maybe you two don't even know him by that…"

He quickly added, "Goku is the baby I'm carrying on my back."

It wasn't surprising that Grandpa Gohan was this anxious. Earlier, while training in the mountains, he had seen a spherical object crash from the sky. Inside, he'd found a baby. And now, seeing these two children with tails like Goku's…

Could they be his family?

If they were, then letting them take the baby home would be the best solution. But when he thought about it, he felt reluctant.

Although Goku had been a bit wild at first, ever since falling on his head, he had become gentle and obedient. Such a sweet little guy—who could dislike him?

Ausbi'er floated behind Grandpa Gohan, peeking into the basket. "So this is Kakarot?"

She had heard about Kakarot back on Planet Vegeta, especially from Aunt Gine. Now, seeing the little guy for herself—he really was cute. Especially that hair—it looked just like Uncle Bardock's!

Kaso chuckled. "You could say we're Goku's kin. But something happened to his family… So I'll be leaving him in your care, Grandpa."

"Huh?" Grandpa Gohan was stunned. So they really were his relatives?

He started to assume Goku's family had been hunted down by enemies and, in a last-ditch effort, sent the child away for safety.

Poor kid…

Still, this meant Goku wouldn't be taken away now. A sense of relief settled in, even if part of him would've felt sorrow at parting with the boy.

What Kaso didn't realize was that in the old man's head, a whole melodramatic revenge saga was already playing out like some ancient martial arts epic.

Kaso simply knew that Goku's eventual strength wouldn't just come from his Saiyan bloodline—it was inseparable from Earth's martial traditions.

From Grandpa Gohan's teachings, to Roshi's training, to his time in the Heavenly Realm—all of it laid the foundation for Goku's path to the top.

He glanced at the hunched old man with a kind smile, the black hat on his head, and the soft white beard. This kindly elder—would he still meet his end under Goku's own hands?

Kaso made no mention of the Saiyans' hidden trait—that upon gazing at a full moon, they transformed into giant apes.

Some things are better left to fate.

He sighed softly. Then, pulling out the four-star Dragon Ball, he said, "Grandpa, I believe this orb belongs to you. I'll borrow it for a bit and return it to Goku when the time comes."

Kaso deliberately said "return to Goku", not Grandpa Gohan—though the old man didn't seem to catch that nuance.

"Huh? How'd that get into your hands?" the elder muttered as he stroked his beard. "I picked that thing up many years ago and kept it 'cause it looked pretty. If you need it, go ahead and use it."

"Thank you, Grandpa. We'll be going now. Goodbye!" Kaso said with a wave.

He turned and left with Ausbi'er.

Watching them disappear into the horizon, Grandpa Gohan couldn't help but marvel at their strength. Then he remembered—he was still foraging herbs to treat Goku's bump. Time to get back to work.

"Kaso-gege, so that's really Kakarot? He looks just like Uncle Bardock!" Ausbi'er clung to Kaso's back, her cheek nuzzling against his neck.

Her warm breath made his skin tingle. Kaso shifted her forward and cradled her in front of him.

"Yeah… even Goten looked like them when he was young. Weird how he grew up looking totally different," Kaso muttered with a smirk. Maybe Toriyama-sensei got tired of drawing the same face.

He gave Ausbi'er a playful kiss on the cheek. "Alright! Let's go eat something delicious!"

"Yay!!" she cheered, fists clenched like a little kitten, eyes gleaming.

Kaso flew at high speed with her in his arms. After a month of intense training in the Heavenly Realm, they deserved a good break.

He could've just used Instant Transmission to pop straight over to Tights' place—but that would've ruined the fun.

West City.

A city of wealth and wonder, full of luxurious estates.

In one sprawling compound stood a dome-shaped building, surrounded by various research annexes.

In one of them, Dr. Brief—wearing his white lab coat—stood beside a large, black metal structure, holding tools and muttering to himself as he inspected the machine from every angle.

"It's finally done."

After a month of hard work, he had completed the gravity chamber.

It hadn't been easy. The materials required were incredibly rare. Thankfully, Capsule Corp had a stockpile of exotic metals.

If Kaso had asked him to build a second one, it might not have been possible.

Suddenly—

Clamor erupted from outside.

He looked up and saw his daughter leading Kaso and Ausbi'er through the gates.

"Well, now… great timing. Just finished." Dr. Brief smiled.

"Dad, Kaso and Ausbi'er are here!" Tights called cheerfully.

Trailing behind them, little Bulma eyed the pair with suspicion and awe.

"How the heck did they even fly like that?"

"You're just in time," Dr. Brief said. "It's ready."

He pointed to the metallic structure behind him.

Kaso's eyes lit up.

It looked like a fortress—about 40 square meters in size, constructed with dark, gleaming metal. Four thick columns were embedded in the walls, clearly intended to stabilize the chamber under extreme gravitational pressure.

The whole thing gleamed under the lights with a distinct, futuristic sheen.

"This is… the gravity chamber?"

Kaso approached it step by step, raising a hand to gently touch the cold metal surface.

Dr. Brief smiled proudly. "I've built in all the features you requested—voice-controlled gravity scaling, interior temperature adjustment…"

Truthfully, those had been easy. What took most of the time?

Designing a music system.

Dr. Brief just couldn't tolerate the idea of such a perfect machine without some good background tunes. He spent the bulk of the month perfecting a sound system that could function flawlessly under 100x gravity.

And he did it.

He gave himself a quiet mental thumbs-up.

"Genius. Absolute genius."

These two kids are gonna love it.
