Asrial, a boy of mysterious origins, survives the annihilation of his village by the feared Church of the Broken God. Left hollow, a mere shell, he unknowingly embarks on the ancient Trials of the Elemental Dragons—awakening powers long thought impossible. But Asrial's soul is not his own. Within him sleeps the fragmented essence of the world's original creator, and with each step forward, his fragile existence begins to unravel.
