"Bloodsworn Guards, listen up! Your mission is over. Everyone, fall back. From here on out, this is my battle alone!" Rosinante suddenly took out a Den Den Mushi and, after speaking a single sentence into it, tossed it aside without hesitation.
At that moment, his eyes gleamed with an intense light, and his face was filled with excitement. Without waiting for anything else, he charged straight at Kaido.
"Kaido, let's have a head-on, no-holds-barred battle!" Rosinante's face brimmed with madness as he lunged at Kaido, launching a ferocious provocation.
"You brat… I'll remember you!" Kaido roared, equally frenzied, throwing a punch straight at Rosinante.
Their massive fists collided in midair, and the resulting shockwave was so intense it seemed to shake the very heavens.
"Attack Silence!" Feeling a tremendous force surge through his fist, Rosinante didn't try to resist it with his own strength, nor did he back off to deflect it. Instead, he activated his Devil Fruit power and silenced the force entirely.
The massive energy that had slammed into Rosinante dissipated into stillness because of his fruit's ability—it no longer had any effect.
And in the next instant, Rosinante threw out another punch.
Kaido wasn't about to back down. Though he had no idea how Rosinante had suddenly gained the power to stand toe-to-toe with him, when it came to sheer force and direct confrontation, who had Kaido ever feared?
He answered with a thunderous punch of his own, each strike stronger than the last.
"Attack Silence!" "Attack Silence!" Rosinante met each blow head-on, his fists clashing with Kaido's again and again, silencing each wave of force the moment it made contact.
Under normal circumstances, this was a terrible strategy in battle. After all, these attacks were actually hitting him—silencing them after they'd landed meant the damage was only paused, not gone. The forces he'd silenced still existed, dormant within him. Once the silence was lifted, all that accumulated power would surge back. If he wasn't careful, they could rip him apart from the inside.
"But even if I don't fully understand how you're suddenly withstanding my blows," Kaido growled, "don't think that's all I've got! You've earned the right to face my full power. Today, you'll see the might of Kaido of the Beasts!"
His eyes turned savage, like a primeval beast awakening. An overwhelming aura burst forth from his body.
"Then bring everything you've got!" Rosinante roared back, a domineering force erupting from him in response. Their wills clashed, and the sky filled with violent black lightning crackling between them. The clouds above churned as if reacting to the storm of their confrontation.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Bins and the others heard Rosinante's voice through the Den Den Mushi and their expressions changed drastically.
"Follow His Majesty's orders," Bins said after a moment. "The dimensional assault is over. The operation has failed."
The declaration fell like a hammer. Silence spread among the troops. This had been their first attempt at a dimensional assault, and ending it like this left them full of regret.
"What are you all still standing around for? Even if His Majesty hadn't said it, we should've realized by now—this mission was doomed. None of our weapons, not even the laser shells or the modified sniper guns using Impact Dials, could truly threaten Kaido. Against a monster like him, if you can't kill him in one blow, you've already lost."
Bins's voice grew grim. "But His Majesty told us—failure isn't what we should fear. The key to growing stronger lies in understanding our failures. Now execute the order. Retrieve Ryan and Winter, and withdraw!"
"Besides," Bins added, glancing toward the energy surging from the battlefield, "we couldn't participate in that fight even if we stayed. It's no longer a battle we can interfere with."
"Conqueror's Haki?" Kaido's eyes narrowed. "Didn't think I'd run into another user up here on Sky Island. Kid, tell me your name. After I kill you, I'll build you a grave, etch your name into it, and make sure the whole sea knows it. Anyone who pushes me to use my full power isn't just some nameless runt."
"Rosinante. My name is Rosinante. Remember it well. That's the name of the man who's going to defeat you!" Rosinante shouted.
Kaido let out a cold, savage laugh. Then both men moved at once—fists colliding with devastating force.
Boom! Their fists clashed, and Rosinante felt an unstoppable wave of power surge through him. Blood burst from his mouth as he was sent flying backward.
"Attack Silence!" He triggered his power mid-retreat, neutralizing the force just before it could shred him apart.
Suddenly, Rosinante's expression changed. Twisting in midair, he spun and drove his elbow toward Kaido.
"Attack Release!" With that mighty elbow strike, Rosinante simultaneously unleashed all the silenced forces he had stored within his body.
Kaido, seeing the elbow coming, responded with one of his own. The two arms collided with earth-shattering force. The sky itself was torn open by the residual shockwave.
Boom! Kaido was overwhelmed by the torrent of released power. Even his expression shifted—the strength behind Rosinante's strike was immense.
Unable to fully withstand the blow, Kaido staggered back. Then a final surge of power slammed into him, causing his eyes to go wide.
Crash! Kaido's massive body was flung backward, crashing into a colossal cloud island. The island shattered under the impact, reduced to debris.
"Rosinante!!" Kaido roared, pushing aside the remains of the island cloud as he charged back toward Rosinante.
"KAIDO!!" Rosinante shouted back, launching himself forward to meet Kaido again.
"Cloud Roll!" A wormhole opened up, and a swirl of cloud pulled Ryan and Winter inside, retrieving them from the battlefield just in time.
Moments later, Rosinante and Kaido collided once again.
Pffft! Even though Rosinante had braced himself, the impact still made him cough up blood on the spot.
The immense force surged down his arm, smashing into his internal organs—until his Silence Fruit power swept over it, quieting the injury and dispersing the impact.
Once silenced, Rosinante immediately retaliated with another strike.
Boom! This time, he added his Flying Shadow technique to his elbow strike, slamming it hard into Kaido's abdomen.
The combination of Flying Shadow and the unleashed stored attacks from before forced Kaido to cough up blood—his body rocked with the blow.
"Hahaha! This is what pain feels like! The sting of death! Rosinante, can you kill me?!" Kaido's face contorted in agony, but his expression twisted into one of bloodlust and madness.
With a wild laugh, he launched an even more vicious attack at Rosinante. The two clashed again, their battle intensifying.
Each shockwave from their blows rippled through the entire Sky Island. The sea of clouds boiled and roared, and the floating islands trembled and cracked apart, collapsing into the abyss below.
"How are they?" Bins asked, looking at the unconscious Ryan and Winter.
"This Kaido really is a monster," the medic from the Sworn Blood Guards said grimly. "If it weren't for His Majesty's Healing Seal locking in their lives, they'd be dead a dozen times over by now. Their physical strength has been completely drained just to maintain a single breath. We need to pump them full of high-grade medicine to restore their stamina. Only then can the Healing Seal suppress their injuries!"
