Chapter 40; Let me go.....

He stopped just inches away, his towering presence suffocating her as he waved the crumpled papers in her tear-streaked face.

"Divorce? Who gave you those guts? Do you think they have the capabilities to go up against me? Do you think he can handle my lawyers?" he spat coldly, his jaw tightening with barely restrained rage, "You think you can leave me so easily after you dragged me into this marriage? You think I will let you walk out of here and live happily somewhere else after all this?"

"What do you take this place for? Your toilet? Yueyao, I thought you knew things, you just needed to be the dutiful Mrs Shen, bailing out now?"

His lips twisted into a cruel smirk as he leaned down, his face so close their noses almost touched, his breath brushing hot and heavy against her trembling lips.

"Dream on, Yueyao."

She hurriedly took a step back as her hands flew onto her mouth as she heavily retched.

Shen Xiao was infuriated more seeing her reaction. All these years, no matter what, she had never reacted like this. Was he that disgusting to her?

Her knees buckled as the two men held her and shoved her forward....

"Don't touch me..."

Shen Xiao grabbed her chin roughly, forcing her to look into his black, soulless eyes as Bai Zhi watched from the couch, stroking Shen Xuan's hair with an expression of quiet triumph.

Goosebumps grew all over her body feeling sick and cold.

"Don't touch me..."

Yueyao's chin throbbed under his iron grip, her jaw aching as he forced her to look up at him. His eyes burned with a dark, twisted fury that sent a cold shiver down her spine.

"You belong to me, Yueyao" he whispered harshly, his voice barely audible but sharp enough to slice through her fragile sanity, "Don't ever think about leaving me again. Even in death, Yueyao, you will still be mine. And, if you plan on involving strangers, I don't mind getting rid of them..."

She didn't respond. Her blank, lifeless eyes stared back at him, reflecting nothing of the terror pounding in her chest.

Something inside her had snapped completely.

She felt like a porcelain doll, cracked, chipped, but still forced to stand pretty on a shelf for everyone to admire.

Shen Xiao released her chin with a sharp flick, and her head jerked back painfully while she heavily retched.

"What do you want Shen Xiao?"

"Just let me go, I don't want anything from you..."

"Please...." this place was suffocating her and all she needed was an escape before she went crazy.

"I will set you free..."

"I don't want anything... Absolutely nothing..."

Her tears flowed freely down her cheeks as she shook her head desperately. He was cold and unfeeling, they didn't have any emotions for each other, wasn't it the right thing to let go? After all, she wasn't the one he loved!

She already wasted ten good years! Just recalling her dead baby sent her chills, and nightmares. She wanted to escape, she wanted to run away....

"Please… please, Shen Xiao… just let me go… I beg you…"

But his face remained as cold and merciless as ever.

He nodded to his men.

"Take her upstairs," he ordered the guards coldly. "And lock all the windows and doors, get rid of that phone and laptop she is using to contact people. From today onwards, she doesn't need to step out of this house without my permission. You just need to continue being the dutiful Mrs Shen..."

"Shen Xiao... Let me go..."
