Chapter Five:Bone breaking pain

Iris decided to start the medical bath in the morning.

Early the next morning, Iris filled her bathtub with hot water and added the pills from one bottle into the water which made the bathwater turn milky color After the pills dissolved.

After Iris entered the water, she only felt the heat of the water at first. But then, she began to feel immense pain. It was like thousands of ants eating into her skin. It was so painful and hot that she almost passed out. But she remembered what the attendant told her. She couldn't faint! She forced herself to remember everything she endured in her previous life. She remembered how after her mother died, how her father stopped caring about her and how when she turned nineteen, her father took her to a secluded hospital for surgery under the pretence of taking her on a vacation. She remembered the pain she felt when the doctor operated on her brain with the permission of her so called father, wanting to forcefully temper her brain to make her as smart as an AI so that she would be used to bring the Bane Enterprise to fame. And then she remembered the hatred and joy she derived when she became an assassin and started killing all the doctors and nurses that was present on that very day. These memories kept her from succumbing to the darkness.

After the initial stage of pain, her whole body began to itch and twitch as black smelly fluids oozed out of her sweat pores. The whole process lasted two hours. It was two hours of intense torture.

After Iris was sure the pills had lost its potency, she stepped out of the bathwater with her body swaying in exhaustion. She drained the water from the tub and washed herself clean.

She couldn't help but shudder when she thought of how she was going to endure that Kind of torture again for another ten days since the it turned out that the martial test was in ten days. To Iris, she had a lot of time to strengthen her body but she dreaded the pains that follows.

After resting for about an hour, Iris decided to do the most basic moves as an assassin and to her surprise, she could easily do it and only got dizzy after two hours.

In the Afternoon, she had the medical bath again and struggled through it. When it was time for dinner, she went to the dinning area and was pleasantly surprised to see her younger brother since he usually ate on time and sleeps on time.

"Ah big sis! I didn't even hear your foot steps until you were closer to me"Long Chen said in surprise.

"How did you do that?" He asks curiously.

"I don't know" Iris answered honestly but then remembered the smelly fluids that oozed out of her body during her medical baths.

"Could that be the so called impurities that those fantasy movies talked about?"Iris thought to herself.

"Nevermind. There'll be a martial test ten days from now and I already registered my name. It is said that if you pass, you'll be taken to the capital city and when you pass that test, you'd be selected by sects or you'd go to the imperial capital" Long Chen said in excitement.

"I know. I already registered my name" Iris said to have both her mother and brother gasp in shock.

"What?!" Long miao their mother half yelled.

"I already registered" Iris repeated with a straight face.

"Why would you do that? Did you forget about your weak body?" Long Chen asked in concern.

"I didn't forget"Iris replied simply.

"So,.....?" Long Chen urges her to continue.

"I bought some body strengthening pills" Iris explained.

"Does it really work?" Long miao asked her daughter who nodded before going to explain more.

"My body released the impurities that made me weak and I suppose that's why my steps became lighter than usual" Iris said.

"That's wonderful news! If it's true then you might really get better!" Long miao cried in happiness.

"Ah, big sis do you still have some of those pills?" Long Chen asked with curiosity

"I still have More than seven bottles I'll give you three for your bath in the morning, Afternoon and night" Iris responded.

"Sweet!" Long Chen replies happily.

"How are you feeling Xu lan?" Long miao asked her daughter.

"I'm alright mother. I don't feel dizzy anymore" Iris reassured her mother.

After the meal, Iris gave her brother the pills and also explained the suffering attached to it. Then she went back to her room to have the last medical bath for the day. She soon fell asleep after washing off the impurities. She was seriously exhausted.
