Chapter 8 : A Change in the Job and Class System?

Rian walked toward his room. There, he saw Jarvis already waiting for him at the door. Rian approached him.

"What is it, Jarvis?" Rian asked.

The old man, dressed as a butler with white hair, bowed respectfully, then spoke in a calm and efficient tone. "My Lord, as you commanded, Lady Natasha, Epsilon, and the other three reconnaissance teams departed five minutes ago."

Rian nodded in understanding. From Jarvis's words, I know there are four reconnaissance teams. This means Emma decided to give a more specific order, breaking one large team into four smaller ones.

A faint smile touched his lips. This pleased him. The NPCs are no longer just taking my orders literally.

"Good. Continue as planned." Rian gave his approval for their departure. "Now, I have a question for you, Jarvis… what is your impression of that place?"

He asked this question because he wanted to know more details about their new world.

Jarvis thought for a moment to arrange his words, then spoke in a heavy tone. "Lord Arthur, in my opinion, this place is very… barren. I would even say that the place itself does not support life. The atmosphere is extremely thin, and this is exacerbated by the high amount of carbon dioxide in it. Although a portion of Avanheim's population does not require oxygen or a good atmosphere to live, this will hinder Avanheim's development in the future."

Jarvis looked at his master with a serious gaze.

Rian was silent for a moment, processing Jarvis's opinion. He's right. The majority of Avanheim's population doesn't need oxygen to live; they subsist on the mana in their bodies. Even if they did need oxygen, they could coat their lungs with magic that can produce it. That spell existed in the game, a low-tier magic that anyone could use. Back then, the spell was useless because it only provided a low regeneration buff.

According to Avalon's lore, all magical beings—except for humans and demi-humans—live by breathing in the mana particles in the air. These particles are very abundant in the world of Monia and are said to be the source of all magic. But, players who followed the Scientist or Alchemist path never found any evidence of these particles. So, they considered it fake news from the developers.

This means that if the mana particle hypothesis is true, then these particles also exist in this new world. And they're still abundant? Because in Avanheim, I can still use magic with ease.

"I understand. I will find a solution," Rian replied with a calm face, looking at Jarvis with a reassuring gaze.

Seeing that expression, Jarvis felt relieved. As expected of Lord Arthur. Even for a problem this large, he already has a solution. No wonder he stands above the other Supreme Beings.

"Also, I wanted to ask you something, Jarvis." Rian looked at him seriously. This is a crucial issue. If magic can't be used outside of Felius Castle, or if its power is weakened, it would be extremely dangerous for Avanheim's security.

Jarvis placed his right hand on his left breast and bowed respectfully again. "Please ask anything, Lord Arthur. I will answer to the best of my ability."

"Did you have any trouble using magic or skills? Was there any decrease in their power?" Rian asked with a bit of hesitation. He didn't want Jarvis to look at him strangely for asking this.

Jarvis looked confused for a moment, but then he understood. Lord Arthur wants to know if magic can still be used outside of Felius Castle or not!

"You need not worry, My Lord," Jarvis answered calmly. "Magic, skills, and items are all functioning without any errors. Everything is normal. Even the mana consumption matches the spell and skill descriptions."

"Good. This puts my mind at ease." Rian nodded in satisfaction. He then pushed open his bedroom door with his left hand. "In that case, we'll conclude our conversation here."

Rian threw himself onto the bed. CLICK. The door to his room closed on its own.

"So exhausting…" Rian muttered, his face buried in an incredibly soft pillow. It was the softest pillow he had ever touched in his life.

Rian stared at the unfamiliar ceiling of his room, no longer caring about the luxurious design of the bed or the room itself.

Really, what power brought me here? If in the novels it was the Dragon Emperor, then in my situation, who was it? And what was their purpose? His right hand came up to cover his forehead.

From the information Jarvis and The Ninth Oath Maids managed to gather, this place clearly doesn't support life, not even for microorganisms. According to Jarvis, the temperature outside Avanheim can reach -60 degrees Celsius under normal conditions, and that's in a vacuum without an atmosphere. So, the probability of a living being summoning Avanheim here is less than one percent. So, who? And for what purpose? Also… are there any other players besides me? Rian's mind was filled with a myriad of questions about the day's events.

He buried his face in the pillow again and continued to mutter. "I'm sure of it… no, it's almost one hundred percent certain. Avalon was the most famous PC MMORPG with the largest number of players on Earth. Even on the day the servers shut down, I'm sure there were other players who kept playing until the very last second. So, the possibility that other players are experiencing the same situation as me… is very high."

Imagining this possibility, Rian panicked. He rolled around on his bed.

The Avanheim Guild, in Avalon, was known as an evil guild because all its members were Heteromorphic species from races affiliated with evil and crime. In the past, Avanheim often went to war with other guilds because we frequently plundered items and even PK'd other players, especially those with the Light Element attribute.

This made Avanheim widely hated. What's more, some of our racial evolution paths required massacring towns, even killing NPCs, for a promotion ritual.

For example, my race's evolution to Abyss King of Fallen Angel. To achieve this evolution, I had to perform a large-scale sacrifice on the Linoan Continent, triggering a major war there. I had to beg the guild members to help me. So, we orchestrated conspiracies in various places to incite wars between nations. In Avalon, with one hundred percent freedom, such things were possible.

A year later, the truth about the masterminds behind the great war on the Linoan Continent was revealed. This made Avanheim, already hated, even more despised. In that war, thousands of players lost their items and their territories. Even the Aritanian Empire, founded by players, collapsed.

This led to Avanheim being isolated, and we decided to hide on a remote island in the Atlantic Ocean.

Fortunately, the power gained from evolving into an Abyss King of Fallen Angel was not disappointing.

Remembering what Avanheim had done in the past, Rian felt a sense of fear. "Please, I hope the ones who got isekai'd to this new world with me aren't guilds that were hostile to Avanheim, especially not the number one guild in the world." He had good reason to think that. Avanheim was strong, but if their opponent was a top-tier guild like the Holy Alliance… they'd be toast. That was the number one guild in Avalon.

Rian got up from his bed and stood. Suddenly, he wanted to confirm something very important.

He opened his inventory space, then dropped a sword onto the floor.

CLANG! The sword made a loud noise as it fell, even causing the marble floor to crack slightly under its weight.

The sword had a curved hilt. Its blade emitted an irregular white light, while another part was shrouded in a deep darkness that seemed to swallow light.

I found this by accident in some ancient ruins from the Age of Gods. But, because my Job was a mage, I could never use it. Let me try holding it… see if I can. Rian reached out his hand and gripped the sword's hilt.

He felt no resistance at all.

A joyful smile spread across his lips. "This… is amazing! The distinction between Class and Job no longer exists in this world! This means that I, a mage, can now use a sword, or even other weapons besides a magic staff!" Rian ran his fingers over the sword's blade in amazement.

In the game, this was impossible due to the limitations of Job and Class. Even if a mage wanted to use a sword or armor, the item had to be made of magic. And this sword… was not a magic sword at all. He could confirm this because in the game, the system always rejected it.

His Job was Abyss Magic King. This Job allowed him to learn all types of magic in the Darkness category, as well as other elemental magic, with a one hundred percent success rate. Before, he could only learn the Fallen Angel's Darkness magic and fire element magic. But now, he could also use Darkness magic from other races, and his character now had five elemental attributes.

However, like other mage Jobs, this one did not allow him to use weapons that weren't made of magic.

Rian didn't dare swing the sword too hard, as it could destroy his room. This was no ordinary sword.

"According to the system information in the game, the previous user of this sword was a Demon Lord. But the system never specified which Demon Lord..." Remembering this information, Rian looked at the sword in his hand again.

The name of this sword was the Sword of Primordial Chaos. The name sounded impressive, but who knew about its power.

Rian looked at this sword with curiosity. He had never shown it to the other guild members because he had only found it two years ago, when all the guild members had already retired.

"I'll try it outside, and check out the view of this world at the same time," he muttered to himself.
