In Avalon, there is a fundamental magic system known as Sequence Magic. In essence, this magic can be learned by any player, regardless of their chosen Class or Job, as long as their character possesses an innate aptitude for magic.
However, this system comes with clear limitations. Players who choose a non-magical Job or Class, such as Paladin Knight, have a very limited capacity for learning Sequence Magic. While they can use magic, they are only able to master spells up to the tier of Three-Sequence Magic. A tier this low is considered inefficient in combat, so the majority of players choose to focus entirely on developing their primary Job and Class.
Furthermore, every character—even those from the same species and race—will have a unique and random elemental magic affinity. This rule applies to all players, NPCs, and monsters created by the developers, except for NPCs or monsters that have been custom-designed by a player.
The magic system in Avalon is also divided into two polar opposite systems: the Positive System and the Negative System. A player whose Job or Class belongs to the Negative System (such as darkness magic) cannot use Sequence Magic from the Light element or any other element within the Positive System. Conversely, users of the Positive System cannot access magic from the Negative System.
For example, the Angel race will always have Job and Class options originating from the Positive System. It is impossible for the Angel race to access a Job from the Negative System, as that role is filled exclusively by the Fallen Angel race.
Sequence Magic itself has seven main elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, and Wind. The remaining two elements are special and can only be possessed and learned by races affiliated with the Positive and Negative Systems, respectively: the Light element and the Darkness element.
Beyond these seven core elements, there are countless derivative elements. It is this systemic complexity that gave rise to the thousands of unique magic spells within the game of Avalon.
In the world of Avalon, the Sequence Magic system is structured into eleven tiers. Each tier becomes accessible to players as they level up, starting from the lowest, First-Sequence Magic, all the way to the highest, Eleven-Sequence Magic.
However, at the pinnacle of it all, there is one special magic spell known as Ultimate Magic—a spell that can only be possessed by players who have reached Level 100.
This is a peak of magic that can never be reached by NPCs; not even Level 100 monsters are capable of learning it.
