Shadow Gun Arc: Four

Shadow charged the wolf with the sword in his right hand and the shotgun in his left hand. He swung at the wolf who blocked his attack, the sword clinked with the clashing of their weapons. Shadow pulled his gun over and shot the werewolf; the wolf was quick, dodged the two bullets that soared past it toward the crumbled house.

"Tsk."

He landed on his feet, sliding back just a few inches allowing dirt to come up. Shadow came to his feet; he glared at the beast before him. It snarled at him, mocking him with its wide toothy grin. It was the wolf's time to charge and its attacks were fast and simultaneous. Shadow didn't have time to attack, he was too busy trying to stay afloat like he was below water.

In his mind, he had fought hundreds of wolves but none of them had been as fast and agile as the one he was facing now. This one seemed taller and bigger than the others; it was for sure an Alpha.

BOOM!

The shotgun rang out. The bullet pierced the left ear of the wolf, just barely. Sous watched below but she was having trouble keeping up. Their movements were just a bit too fast for her. Her eyesight just wasn't trained to see such movements; still, standing on the roof watching Shadow struggle gave her guilt. She wanted to go down and fight, to give him some back up.

"Dammit." She whispered. She was never one to dread on what she couldn't control but what she could do was try and figure out how this wolf was able to survive a silver bullet. She was aware the only way a wolf could survive was if it wasn't all wolf or if it had some type of spell or potion that allowed it to survive a silver bullet. Sous gasped. Her eyes wide, brows raised, and her mouth suddenly feeling dry.

When she awoke the first night, she smelt the wolf. Then she awoke later in the morning and smelt the same wolf. She came to the house...how many bodies did she see in the bedroom with the blood? Who was the wolf with if she only smelt one wolf? When she entered the house, there was only one wolf…she didn't smell any others dead or alive so that meant the other person in the house was a non wolf and the baby was half. She couldn't smell the baby…

"Shadow, I have a plan. Stay here and hold it off as best as you can, okay!?"

"What-Sous? SOUS!"

CLINK!

Shadow placed the sword and his shotgun up in front of him in the form of an 'x' as the Wolf's claws collided with the weapons. He didn't know where Sous was headed but he had to trust the demon child at this point in time. There was no other choice.

Sous ran toward the castle calling out the guards, the vampires, telling them Shadow needed help toward the front south west region of the village. The vampires didn't ask questions and maybe it was because they knew Shadow that they all rushed off to be at his side.

She was let into the castle by the remaining guards at the door. She ran all over the castle looking for the Patriarch of the clan. From one room to another, she searched for him until finally she simply did what she did best at times:

"CLARENCE!!!"

She searched around waiting for him to appear. She took a deep breath.

"CLAR-"

"What is it, child?"

He appeared within air but Sous didn't have time to inquire about his ability to transport from one place to another.

"Shadow is fighting...who is the family? That family you allowed to live here? What were they? Were they wolves, witches?"

At first Clarence wasn't sure what Sous was attempting to ask and his mind was barely able to concentrate at hearing his dear friend was in need. Finally he was able to focus.

"Wolf and elf."

"Elf…" Sous said to herself. It was all starting to come together, kind of. "Where's your lab?"

"What?"

"Your lab. You're literally the patriarch of the vampire clan, you have an alchemy lab! WHERE IS IT?"

Sous was on Clarence's back as she directed him to the spot Shadow was. Clarence was impressed with Sous; such a small child with the mind of an adult. But if it was true she had dealt with so much hardship from the Apex pack then it made sense. Children who live to survive tend to mature quicker than those who are safe and secure with loving families.

Most times she spoke like a child but when she needed to convey something, or when she was speaking about certain topics, Clearance was amazed how quickly Sous' vocabulary changed. It was theorized, the wolf was the same wolf that came to the clan to seek refuge from Apex. The wolf was married to an elf and Sous thought it was either the elf or the elf who had help from a vampire that created a potion that would allow the Wolf to be immune to silver bullets. Sous was unsure why the wolf would seek refuge only to kill its mate and child. Maybe it was a sacrifice so as to get back to the good graces of the Apex Pack.

Clarence landed on the roof and allowed Sous to get down. She pulled out the silver bullets now with an elixir that would allow the bullets to do their intended purposes by passing the potion within the wolf's body. The vampires that came to help were given a challenge. Some didn't make it; their body parts scattered here or there. Sous shook her head as Clarence whistled. The members of his clan heard him and retreated from the fight.

Sous didn't know what the potion could have been made of but because of Clarence's expertise in Alchemy, he determined that the potion the wolf drank was either one of two. She pulled the bullets out of her pocket.

Shadow was pretty beat up but he held his own against the roof. He was known perched on a tree, exhausted-

"SHADOW, CATCH!!"

She threw the bullets into the air and Shadow jumped out of the air, flipped over, and grabbed the bullets. While in mid air, he put the bullets into the shotgun, and just as the wolf jumped to attack him with an opening certain to cause Shadow instant death, Shadow stuck the barrel of the shotgun to the chest of the wolf and-

BAM!

A hole was made into the chest of the wolf as it fell to the ground with a thud. It tried to get up to attack again but its body began to burn and surge. The bullets ate away at the flesh.

"Eww."

Clarence and Sous jumped down from the roof, Sous falling on her face, miscalculating the jump. Shadow walked over and grabbed her by the arm to pull her up. The three of them watched the wolf plead and beg while the magic took its toll, breaking apart the skin, muscle, spilling blood onto the ground, teeth falling from its head, hands breaking off limbs, until finally nothing but a puddle.

Shadow and Sous sat side by side on the roof of the castle. It was Sous that suggested they watch the sunset together and to see all the vampires come out of their homes.

"Do you think we can go see Kara?"

Shadow looked at Sous and gave her a small smile. "Sure. I can ask Monica to meet us somewhere. Maybe in the city of the humans."

There was a pause for a moment. "I wonder if Kara knows about her Sire."

"Hmm, hmm, probably not and you shouldn't tell her," Shadow said. "It would tear her world apart to know her sire is the one causing all of this pain and suffering."

She brought her legs to her chin and rested upon them. In her own thoughts until she looked at Shadow. "She's one/fourth witch. She shouldn't be ashamed of that." There was another beat of silence as both of their faces lighted up once they saw the vampires leave their homes and take to the streets, take to the sky to go about their lives. The sound of children laughing and adults gossiping. In its own way, it was magical.

"Shadow…"

"Hmm."

"I want to become the Alpha of Apex."

Shadow looked at her and patted her head, but he didn't say anything else.
