[⚠️ Suspicious Content] Sous walked along with the Patriarch of the vampire clan along with four members of his council. Shadow walked just a few feet behind them. They would have easily been transported to Apex but Shadow didn't know any transportation spells and Sous didn't either due to her lack of education. Regardless of their travel situation, the seven of them walked with their heads held high into the Apex Pack territory. Even when the wolves snarled and stuck up their noses as they walked down the sidewalks going past stores, businesses, even when they were honked at by the wolves who drove vehicles, spit at by the children who came across them. It didn't bother any of them as they walked the steps to the city hall to meet with Doureena and her elite team.
They walked into the courtroom to be greeted by not only the Alpha and her elites but also the low ranking Alphas and the Omegas who sat in the audience benches. Shadow and Sous took a seat in the front row; it wasn't missed when the Alpha made eye contact with Sous and Sous being the bold child she had become, she stared right back at the Alpha.
Clarence stood up to the podium to speak to the Alphas similar to what Diamond had to do when he went into Red Woods.
"We will now begin." Doureena began. "State your case."
"It has come to our attention you have been sending wolves over to the border of Nadia to attack our clan."
"We were not attacking your clan. We entered your clan's village because of an individual we were searching for. Instead of trying to understand where we were coming from, your followers fought us."
"If you were searching for someone," exclaimed Clarence, "You should have come to me first. You risked lives because of your lack of communication."
The Alpha was silent. She looked at Sous who sat over by Shadow and behind her was the Omegress.
"I mean, do we really need permission to go after an abusive wolf who has history of beating his wife and harming others in our pack? You sound like we just go after whoever. No, we go after those who betray our pack, who harm our pack."
Sous stood up on her bench. Shadow attempted to pull her back down but she slapped his arm away. He simply buried his head in his hand, wishing he had a mug of beer at that moment.
"That's not true! YOU'RE LYING!!" She screamed.
"We ask for those who are not permitted to speak to not speak such as low ranking Alphas and omegas." Diamond demanded.
"She's lying!" Sous turned to the crowd. "She killed all of my friends. Order their deaths, sent wolves. They tore my friends apart. They killed my father." Sous stepped down from the bench and proceeded to walk toward the Alpha. Shadow got up and grabbed her, but she pushed away from him. Her claws extended and the blue particles he would see when she got angry began to swarm around her. Where's my mother?"
Doureena looked at Sous with such hate; she hated this child was still alive. This child was the child that killed Deacon and killed one of her strongest assassins. It was this mutt! She wanted to tear this brat apart limb by limb. There were questions she had like how Sous managed to get to Nadia, managed to get in contact with the vampire clan but over all, none of it was important.
"Answer me! WHERE IS MY MOTHER?" Sous's fangs became more prominent and Shadow found himself struggling to be able to hold her back. He called out her name but her target was focused. He gritted his teeth and used both hands to try and hold her.
"Tsk." 'She's strong.' He thought to himself.
"Let her go." Doureena said. "Let's see what she can do."
Monica could barely watch all of this. She wanted to stand up and tell her Alpha to stand down but for an Omega, even as an Omegress, that could cause so much disdain and disruption for the pack.
Shadow wasn't going to let Sous go.
"Let her go! She's a betrayer anyway. Did you know she killed two people? She killed two high ranking Alphas."
"THEY KILLED MY FRIENDS!"
Monica sat there. Sous wouldn't out her; she hated this. She hated seeing Shadow in this predicament as well.
Shadow watched the Alpha. She was full of shit. He trained Sous, sparred with her, watched in her biggest battle yet with a wolf who had potion given to it to make it acceptable to silver bullets. Sous wasn't anywhere near as strong to defeat a wolf, let alone two wolves. He wouldn't say that to the Alpha at this point. All hell would break loose.
"I'm sorry for the disruption, Alpha!" Shadow used all of his strength and threw Sous over his shoulder. He ran out of the courtroom and Monica wanted to follow him so bad but she wouldn't dare do that. She wasn't that strong to defy her Alpha.
Before Shadow could get out the doors with Sous, Sous had her final words to Doureena; the words that would hunt Doureena and make it her mission to end this child who threatened her position in her own pack, her family's pack.
"I'M COMING FOR YOU, ALPHA! I'M COMMMINNNGGG!"
The doors slammed shut and the room was empty once more.
It was night, dark out when Kara approached Sous' old shack. She reached out her hand to allow Sous to pull her up. Together, they sat on the roof of the shack, simply looking out. And as they shared an evening with one another, Monica stood with Shadow in the field where the children were killed. She told Shadow everything that happened; she confessed though there was no need to, since he already knew it wasn't Sous who killed the scout and the assassin.
"I think that's why I never got around to finding an Alpha. They all want you to submit to them. You couldn't even speak up at the meeting because of what it would mean. That's bull shit." He paused. "Do you regret marrying her?"
"Don't ask me that question, Shadow."
The two Omegas stood side by side in their own little world. There were times when they were young where Shadow thought Monica was freer than him but as they got older and she moved back to Apex, it seemed the tables have turned. Monica was stuck in a role she wasn't aware she would have ever entered if she had known beforehand. Monica had moved back to Apex when she was eighteen so didn't have the chance to attend Hacate University. She could have seen an Oracle and maybe she would have known how this path would have turned out.
"Why did you leave, Sous?" Kara whispered. She was staying out later than she ever had in the past but it had been a few months since she last saw Sous and since Sous was to be leaving soon, she wanted to be with her as much as she could.
Sous thought about what Shadow had told her about not telling Kara the truth, how it would tear her world apart. Sous was never one for beating around the bush, for lying.
"Your sire killed my friends."
Kara laughed. For Sous to say something so out of character of the Alpha, Kara simply nudged her, thinking she was joking. But when she saw the look Sous gave her, how her face was straight, with little to no emotion, Kara held in her laughter.
Kara shook her head. "No…That's not funny, Sous."
"I'm not being funny. Your Alpha ordered the death of my father, caused my mother to be missing, and ordered the death of my friends, even my best friend. Your sire is shit."
"Why are you being mean?" She said with tears starting to form at the corners of her eyes. "Why are you saying such horrible things?"
Sous did her best to hold her tongue, to grind her teeth. She wanted to scream at Kara, yell at her on how she could be so-so-so blind to what her sire was doing; instead, she gave Kara a disgusted look, disappointed she was so naive. All one had to do was put two and two together. Just like how Sous figured out there was only one wolf she could smell in the vampire village. That it wasn't because the wolf wasn't all wolf but simply because of potion the wolf had consumed. Sous wanted this conversation to be over.
"Go home, Kara."
"Sous."
"I don't want you to get in trouble. Go home."
"Sous-"
"GO HOME!"
Kara felt like she was being made to choose the two most important Alphas in her life: her sire and Sous. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she slowly made her way down the roof of Sous' old shack. She looked back at the blonde hair and blue eye Alpha, seeing how much she changed. She seemed taller, her hair still wild but she wasn't dirty, and her scent was still powerful. It was just, Kara didn't like the idea of turning her back on this Alpha. She hated seeing Sous glare at her.
Monica and Shadow watched both Sous and Kara and heard the entire conversation. Monica sighed and Shadow was well aware Sous wouldn't be able to hold her tongue. She was more abrasion after all she'd had been through.
"At least she didn't tell her she was part witch." Shadow joked. He looked at Monica hoping to be met with a smile but only watched his best friend continue to stare straight ahead. When she pinched the bridge of her nose, Shadow took Monica's hand and held it tight. "Its like when Omegas get with Alphas, we lose our voice." He stood close to his best friend. "You just need to get your voice back. Do you even still cuss? Remember, it was you that gave me this mouth." He nudged her once more, finally making her smile through the sadness of her eyes. He moved closer to her, tightening his hand. "Monica," he whispered. "We have to be wise." He lowered his voice. "Monica, who else is on this betrayer list?"
Monica shook her head; she had no idea who else was on the list. She didn't know any of the names of the children or how they even managed to get the names to begin with besides for a bribe with the humans. She knew the names of the adults whom the wolves killed about once a month including Sous's father but she had no idea where her mother was, or even the name of her mother to begin the search. She couldn't go to the humans since there were wolves on the board. They would know. Monica sighed.
"I'm going to catch up to Kara." She turned to Shadow, probably her only friend she had. She hugged him and he embraced her happily.
Shadow had such conflicting feelings when he saw Monica. He shouldn't have had those feeling since they were both Omegas but sometimes he couldn't help but think if they had a possibility to be with one another if she had stayed in Nadia. He never got along with Alphas; they always wanted him to keep his mouth closed, to submit but he was his own man.
He heard rustling in the grass; he placed his arm on his shotgun but he saw it was Monica. She had two mugs in one hand and then two cans of beer in the other. She smiled when she approached him, handing him a mug and a beer.
"A glass before you go," she said.
They poured mugs, cheered, and drank.
