{Reward: 100 XP} {Progress: 11%}

Ragnar checked the available quests and their XP rewards.

"I can easily complete the second quest tomorrow and gain enough exp to level up, but after that I need other means to increase my level as fast as I can," he muttered.

|| Host can gain XPs and increase his level by slaying foes. When host learns and masters new techniques, no matter what category, XP is also earned || Onyx reminded.

Ragnar was already aware of such a feature. Heck, he's a gamer, and the general method of gaining XP was by slaying monsters.

As for the second method of farming XP, he wished he could get Old Man James to teach him some sword techniques from his past job.

"Well, I'll settle all of that tomorrow," Ragnar said as he shut the quest window. "I'm famished, I need to eat something."

He opened his inventory, brought out a can of fish, and ate it—it tasted like those he ate on Earth, at the ideal temperature, making it enjoyable.

Half an hour after eating, he fell asleep.

|| Rise and shine! It's morning!! ||

Ragnar was awoken by Onyx's annoying voice.

"I didn't ask you to wake me this morning," Ragnar barked at Onyx. "I went to bed very late last night, and now you're forcing me to rise this early. How cruel! I thought your job was to assist me, not torment me."

Ragnar grumbled as he rose from his bed. He grabbed his pot of water, took it outside, and washed himself up to prepare for the day. His eyes were still red and tired from insufficient sleep, all thanks to Onyx.

After he finished his bath, he strolled outside his hut.

The smell of the gentle morning greeted his nose, and the soft light of the sun bathed his face.

Ragnar forced a smile and waved at a middle-aged woman. She smiled and waved back.

Then she began chasing after her naked five-year-old son, who tried to escape his morning bath. The scene lifted Ragnar's mood a little.

Ragnar heaved a sigh and began strolling around the settlement—his first task for the morning was to inform the people about a meeting that would be held in the evening.

He strolled from hut to hut, greeted them, and informed them of the meeting.

Fortunately, none rejected his invitation, some even showed eagerness to attend.

As he made his rounds, he finally arrived at the hut of Old Man James.

Both greeted each other, and Ragnar informed him about the meeting, which James was proud to comply with.

Nevertheless, Ragnar had other reasons for coming here today.

"Old Man James, I have a request," he said politely.

"Ask on, kiddo," Old Man James said, interested.

"I want to learn how to fight with a sword."

"That is great, did Noah recommend you to me?"

Ragnar shook his head.

"Well, Noah started learning swordplay when he thought you were dead. He was determined to protect everyone after you were gone," Old Man James spoke with a smile.

"He really did that?"

"Yes, he did, though he asked me to keep it a secret—haha, this old man is very bad at keeping secrets," Old Man James laughed. "Well, it won't be a secret anymore since both of you will learn the ways of the sword under me from now on."

Ragnar's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Old Man James."

Old Man James waved his hand and laughed. "No need to thank me, turning you two into strong swordsmen is the only way an old man like me can help."

Old Man James discussed their training schedule. Since Ragnar had farm work in the morning, training would begin in the afternoon and last until evening.

According to Old Man James, Noah had never missed a single day and would always ask for extra hours even after each session.

'Noah doesn't seem like the type to care about others and be so ambitious, I guess I was a bad judge of character,' Ragnar thought as he strolled to the last three huts and informed them of the meeting.

After about ten minutes, he completed his first task for the day and went to look for the twins.

Luckily, he found them both. They'd come looking for him at home, and when they didn't find him, they asked the neighbors, who pointed them this way.

Merlina wore a worried expression, still troubled by last night's events.

Noah, on the other hand, remained calm.

"We heard you were calling for a meeting tonight," Merlina said. "Do you plan to inform them about the monster we saw last night?"

Ragnar shook his head and told her why he'd actually called.

"A way to purify the drinking water?" the twins were surprised.

"Yes, I've thought of three methods, and I want to inform everyone about them. If they start using pure water, their well-being will improve," Ragnar responded.

Although the twins were curious about his methods, they decided to wait until evening.

Noah excused himself and went to meet Old Man James to ask about the monster they saw last night.

Ragnar and Merlina strolled around the settlement together.

When they walked past Ragnar's house, they saw a young boy lying on the ground, crying and clutching his stomach.

His mother worryingly tried to calm him down.

Ragnar recognized the kid—the same one who ran around naked cheerfully this morning. Now his cheerfulness had been replaced by pain.

Ragnar felt compassion and decided to help.

It was time to spread the gospel of the painkiller!
