Millennia ago, wizards often faced a peculiar problem when it came to finding partners. Love was considered a worthless sentiment among them. Whether it was looks, personality, vision, or future prospects, these factors held little sway in the decisions of young wizards.
No, it was the strength of their magical power that truly mattered.
Male wizards with formidable magical prowess were highly sought after by female wizards. They would fight and compete like it was a civil war to secure a union with the strongest sorcerer, all for the sake of birthing powerful heirs to continue their bloodlines. This led to the invention of the Love Charm.
This particular enchantment didn't require a wand. It was cast with simple incantations, the fingertips manifesting a small pink heart that could be imprinted on any part of the target's body. Its effect was to make the victim fall hopelessly in love with the caster. However, it needed to be applied daily due to its short lifespan.
Once a female wizard conceived, she could readily allow the male to go off with other women to further propagate their lineage. This practice was passed down through generations until, eventually, many wizards began to disagree with it. Some even decided to abandon the ancient tradition altogether. Love, as it is understood now, was defined in the time that followed, catering to the complex emotions of young men and women. The lion-like strength of the males was no longer the sole object of the females' desire.
Time changes, and so do hearts.
Sola was born into a family that still adhered to this 'traditional way' and even codified it into a 'code of conduct' that needed to be passed on to future generations. She learned the Love Charm from her mother and witnessed Virgo's formidable abilities in the Self-Defense Club during her third year. This was where she needed to find a 'breeding partner' to produce the next generation.
Eventually, she successfully imprinted Love Charm on her target. She then sent a letter to her family to announce the news. She and Virgo publicly declared their relationship soon after. Whether it was studying, eating, free time, or club meetings, the two were inseparable, except when they had to return to their separate dormitories. In truth, she desperately wished to share a bed with him.
Despite her inexperience, the raw instinct of a female animal was there. She could only lie with her legs open for him to penetrate until he was finished, as she wasn't entirely naive, thanks to the erotic books in the public library near her hometown.
A command letter from her grandmother suppressed that desire. It insisted on applying the Love Charm daily without fail, a directive Sola strictly followed. The contents of that letter were as follows:
'Sola,
Your mother and I are overjoyed that you've found a fine breeding partner. I command you to apply the Love Charm daily without fail. We believe that having you mate with this partner right now isn't the best timing. There are eyes and ears everywhere in the school, like too many pineapples. Make applying the charm a daily routine until graduation. After that, consummate the union. Continue to follow our traditions.
May magic be ever with you,
Circe.'
The young woman's face darkened under the torchlight in the empty corridor. She didn't utter a word. The pressure morphed into a furious rage, like a ferocious beast thrashing within a locked cage. A dark shadow fell across her face until a small flame ignited at the tip of her wand, incinerating the secret letter. The shadow of the fire, turning the paper into black ash, reflected in her beautiful eyes until it died out. During that moment, it was as if her soul was pulled into a vortex of thought, only to be yanked back by someone's voice.
"Who's there?" A familiar voice called out, and Virgo appeared, light emanating from his wand. His eyes barely held any affection for her anymore. That meant her magic was weakening.
"Sola? What are you doing here at this hour? It's against school rules, you know. You've been here for five years, you should know better. Let's go back to the dorms. I'll walk you." She said nothing more, taking short steps towards the young man, her head bowed so low that the shadow of her long, black hair reached her mid-back. When she was close enough, she feigned a weak knee and collapsed to the ground. Seeing this, Virgo was startled and immediately lunged to catch her fragile body, dropping his wand in the process. The bright light extinguished instantly, and darkness enveloped them as if the entire world held no light except for the torches overhead.
"Hey! Are you alright, Sola?" The young man shook her gently, but Sola smirked and used her index finger to imprint the Love Charm. Just like that, the strongest student at Escuria Academy of Magic was hers once more.
Countless female students had tried to court him with various methods, a myriad of dazzling tactics relentlessly thrown at their target. Believe it or not, he had always managed to escape until he was undone by a basic trick.
As soon as Virgo fell into the depths of infatuation, Sola silently gazed into his sparkling eyes. Her slender hand caressed his body, which was covered by his uniform. It was so… cumbersome… She was certain that no student, janitor, or teacher would pass by this secluded corridor far from the dormitories. So, she grabbed his collar, pulling him close until they could feel each other's warm breath. Their lips were less than a centimeter apart. By the power of the Love Charm, which imprisoned Virgo's soul, turning him into a puppet infatuated with the spellcaster, he pressed his lips to hers without hesitation.
The young man's mindless, instinctive action ignited the burgeoning desires of the young woman. She tried to push him away but couldn't overcome his strength, all the while recalling Circe's command. But as his tongue began to snake its way into her mouth, stirring her sexual arousal, her lower region became slick with love juices.
Moments later, they both surrendered to the strange, new realm of raw, primal instinct. Their clothes were scattered; their lips locked in passionate kisses. Dark shadows flickered on the stone walls from the torchlight. His large, thick hand kneaded her plump breasts with relish, while his warm breath and lips rained kisses all over her smooth skin. She knew she was defying her family's elder's command, but they had gone too far; there was no turning back now.
..........
They lay naked on the hard stone floor, her back almost breaking, but she managed to rest her head on 'lover's' arm. Her hand touched her lower abdomen, which was filled with the warm, thick fluid he had deposited inside her. Of course, some of it had overflowed from her slick vagina. The mark of the Love Charm was still on his wrist, but she wasn't confident how long the magic would last; therefore, she cast another binding spell.
"Hey... what are you doing?" the young man asked, turning over and reaching out his muscular arm to gently embrace my waist as he saw me turn my back to him.
"Nothing," Sola lied, forcing a smile. But her mind, a confused mix of duty and true feelings for the man she had just been intimate with, churned. She wondered: How did the wizards of old deal with these emotions?
"I love you... Sola, I love you so much," the young man whispered in her ear, his voice husky. His warm breath on her ear sent shivers down her spine, and his unexpected words were like a microwave, melting my fragile heart.
She turned back to the young man with a smile before whispering her love and gently kissing his lips.
As the sun began to rise in the sky, the darkness was gradually swept away by the light. The two quickly dressed and apparated back to their respective dorm rooms. Their clothes were almost identical, being black uniforms, so it wasn't until later that I realized I was wearing a shirt and cloak several sizes too large.
During the passing period between classes, Sola secretly apparated back to the 'scene of the crime' to check if any evidence of last night's events remained. I cast several detection spells to ensure that nothing belonging to either of us was left behind that could clearly identify the owner. Unless, of course, some oblivious person had carelessly picked it up; if that were the case, it would likely be lost forever.
The story between Sola and Virgo remained a hot topic. She was considered an enemy by all the female students in the school, except for Mesa. Dubbed 'the Saint,' she had abandoned the ancient traditions four generations ago and was taught to remain chaste to oppose the practice of procreation without love. She herself was in the middle, a position that was the number one headache, as she had to endure verbal attacks from all sides. Not taking sides often led to this kind of awkwardness.
For Mesa, however, it was different.
"Verbomandragore!" The silver-haired, shoulder-length-haired girl with glasses cast a spell on a female student who lunged to slap Sola. Her lips sealed shut, almost becoming one, so the other could only make annoying, muffled sounds. Then, she waved her hand in a 'mark my words, I'll get you later' gesture.
"These guys are so annoying! Ever since you two became a couple, all the girls in school are like chimpanzees in mating season," the girl said, putting her white wand back into her cloak pocket. "Are you sure you want me to stay with you in your room in case someone floats up to attack?"
"This school isn't that safe anyway," Sola sighed. "But it's okay. You need to study for her exams to get good grades."
"Then I can go wherever I want. Maintaining chastity isn't that great. Many female students secretly sneak into the male dorms anyway," she sighed wearily. "Have you applied the charm again since that night?"
"I have to apply it every day without fail," Sola replied, clenching her fist and raising it in the air. "Otherwise, the hooked prey might get away... Oh, wait a minute!! I forgot to apply the charm today! Thank you so much, Mesa! Excuse me! I have to go!"
Sola sprang up and rushed off, her quick footsteps echoing as she frantically searched the school for her lover.
"Where are you!? Where are you!? Where could you be!?" she began to call out loudly, causing many students to give her annoyed looks. Sola ignored those hateful gazes until she found Virgo sitting with a serious expression among his male friends on the lawn.
"My darling!" she cooed loudly, using an exaggeratedly sweet tone. But Virgo responded by waving his wand and creating a shield, causing her beautiful face to slam into the invisible barrier, making her nose bleed. The young man looked at her with hard eyes, his fist clenched tightly, his wand pointing at her, the tip glowing purple with fury.
