Seeing this, the surrounding friends backed away, not daring to interfere. A dark aura surged from every pore, so overwhelming it was impossible to resist. The young woman raised a hand to wipe the blood that streamed down her lips as she sat on the ground. Her eyes looked up at the young man she loved, but his wand was pointed at her face, ready to cast a curse at any moment. It made me tremble with fear, not even daring to think about drawing her own wand to fight. The outcome was far too clear.
"Explain what happened before I lose my patience," he threatened in a low voice, his eyes hard with burning fury. The pressure emanating from him was immense, making Sola's legs weak, unable to stand, as if she'd been injected with a potent muscle relaxant. "Speak!"
She couldn't speak, her eyes darting around. Her mind was blank, unable to conjure any excuse for herself. But as her mind began to be numb, she could push herself up to stand without much difficulty. Several nearby students, witnessing the event, gathered around, breathlessly watching the drama unfold between the lovers.
"Looks like a lovers' quarrel," one of the onlookers whispered, gossiping with relish.
"They've only been in love for a short while and are already fighting."
"It's normal for school romances. Hormones are raging! Haha! Haha! Haha!"
"This would make a great novel; it would probably sell well."
Sola paid no attention to the people criticizing and gossiping about her with such glee. The blood flowing down her lips had a coppery, foul smell. When she inhaled, the drops of blood trickling down her throat had a sickening taste that almost made her gag. When she exhaled, those droplets splattered a few centimeters away, staining some of the grass blades on the ground red.
"Love... I love you, Virgo. I love you..." the young woman finally confessed, even though she had already said these words while he sank into the depths of the Enchantment Mark's trance. She tried to apply the mark again, but he pulled his hand back, his beloved's face contorted in a look of disgusted revulsion.
"Disgusting! Someone like me loving someone like you? And what was all that announcing that we were in love?" he asked, his hand holding the wand trembling. Veins bulged on the back of his hand, his face flushed as he gritted his teeth. "I really want to kill you!"
The young man lunged forward, grabbed the young woman's hand, and apparated to a corner of the school castle. It was like a dark room filled with numerous green flames burning on candles, arranged in rows around the perimeter. Molten candle wax flowed across the floor, hardening into thick, bizarre, and eerie wax pools. The pungent scent of herbs, easily bought from market stalls, permeated the room. Various tools were neatly arranged along the walls. There were signs of considerable rough use. A large table stood in the center of the room, with the dissected remains of some creature for research. Seeing this, fear gripped Sola's heart.
She looked around the room, trying to find a way to escape, but then the young man bound her wrists with chains hanging from the ceiling. Both arms were raised above her head, her feet dangling above the floor. Virgo stood watching with a blank expression, shadows obscuring his face completely.
"So, your family still has those disgusting ancient traditions about procreation, huh?" he said, pointing his wand under the young woman's chin. His eyes glowed red in a way she had never seen before. "I've been secretly wondering for a long time. Didn't think I'd run into a girl from such an old-fashioned family. But your looks aren't bad at all; you're quite beautiful, actually, if you dressed up and wore makeup properly. I think you still want to be with me, right? Then I hope you can accept my offer."
"W-what offer?" Sola asked, struggling against the chains. She let out a small, sharp groan. "That thing called love is meaningless to me. All I want is... that of yours."
"Honestly, I still remember that night when we were overwhelmingly happy," he said, putting his wand back in its leather holster before summoning a chair to float over with his bare hand, without uttering an incantation. He leaned back, crossing his legs, and looked at the young woman who had unknowingly trespassed and stolen his virginity. "We were each other's first, so no one gained or lost. But let me tell you this: you can have my body, but you will never have my heart, unless you successfully complete my offer."
"Heh! Aren't you a bit too full of yourself?" Sola sneered before letting out a dry laugh.
"There's no way I could ever like someone like yo..."
"Demila Veritas," the young man incanted in a flat tone, pointing his finger at her.
Sola's thoughts became strikingly straightforward, and her stomach churned as if butterflies were fluttering wildly inside. She felt slightly dizzy, as if something was fiercely battling within her for dominance.
"You don't like me?" Virgo stood up and approached the slender figure, a sneer on his face.
Don't be so stubborn. Tell me the truth. I know you've been following me around, trying to court me for a long time, just like all the other female students. But thanks to your cheating love spell, the Enchantment Charm, you easily won. After this, it probably won't be called liking anymore; it'll be love."
"Lo... love... I love Virgo..." Sola said against her will, even though inside her mind, chaos reigned. "I'm... in love with Virgo... for... ev... er."
"That's all... Release," he said with a slight wave of his hand. Instantly, the young woman flinched slightly, gasping for breath as if she had run around the school a hundred times.
"A truth spell...?" She bit her lips, feeling the sting of her defeat. Finally, she gave in. "Fine... I love you, Virgo. I've loved you ever since our eyes met in third year."
"That's a long time. Why didn't you ever tell me?" The young man's demeanor changed. Seeing that Sola wasn't trying to escape, he decided to release her from the chains and gently led her to sit on the chair.
"Well, you were so famous, so out of my reach. Besides... I didn't have enough good qualities for you to even notice me," Sola said, crossing her arms and weeping, tears streaming down her cheeks. Virgo, inexperienced in dealing with female tears, didn't know what to do. In the end, he could only gently wipe away the clear drops with his fingers.
Amidst the silence, Virgo suddenly had an idea.
"I understand that your love for me is real, but I want you to prove it with something," Virgo said with a serious tone. "This room is where I conduct dark arts research to enhance my magical power. Whether it's potions or experiments, they are all the secrets that made me the number one strongest student in the school. But now we're about to graduate soon. Facing the adult world with this much power will only make me a low-level wizard. And since I need to be appointed a knight by the Emperor, I need more power. Even if it's the dark arts, I don't care... as long as I can use that power to protect the world of Caronia, you, and our future children."
Sola was taken aback by her beloved's words before sitting still, meeting his gaze intently, ready to listen to the next sentence.
.......
She left Virgo's laboratory with a mission in her head.
"To succeed in this mission, I'll have to sneak into the potion storage room in the potion-making classroom."
Sola went to Professor Reina, fabricating a story that 'Ek,' the favorite student, needed private tutoring. Of course, this was true for the young professor who had a relationship with the student that went beyond teacher and student, to the point of visiting each other's rooms in the faculty and student dormitories every night. Moreover, due to Professor Reina's young age, she didn't consider the truthfulness of Sola's words, delivered with a straight face, so the professor quickly went to find him.
"If that's the case, please look after the room for me. That student has poor grades in several subjects."
The next step of the plan was to enchant Professor Reina's favorite snack with a memory erasing potion so she would forget to meet Sola. Then, she cast an unlocking spell on the door to enter the various potion storage room. The potion needed for this mission was the 'Identity Erasure Potion,' which had ingredients too rare for a student to obtain and took many years to brew.
The various potion storage room was too cramped for a large man like Virgo to enter.
Normally, Professor Reina would use a summoning charm by clearly and distinctly pronouncing the specific name of the potion for the spell to work. That was one of the reasons Virgo needed to challenge the headmaster: to defeat him and seize that grimoire.
I knew what the container of the Identity Erasure Potion looked like, so I could find it quickly. Being a slender girl with a flat chest was a significant advantage. Once she had the Identity Erasure Potion, she drank it immediately after aspirating at the front of the headmaster's office.
Normally, he would stay in his office, and she couldn't be sure if he was busy or not. But having come this far, there was no more time for hesitation. As the clear liquid flowed down her throat to the last drop, her body vanished without a trace, and not even a shadow remained. Her consciousness remained intact. The disadvantage was that she herself didn't even know where her own hands were. Sometimes her invisible hand would swing and hit the doorframe, or her invisible foot would kick the stone wall.
Once she adjusted, she knocked on the headmaster's door and waited for him to open it. As planned, he opened the door, looking left and right. At this moment, Sola apparated into the room through the opening. The invisibility spell wasn't about dissolving molecules to pass through anything, but rather moving at faster-than-light speed through the gap.
He looked left and right in confusion before deciding to close and lock the door securely and walk back to lie down on the hammock tied to a low tree branch, quickly falling asleep.
Many things inside the headmaster's room were strange and unfamiliar to her, but she didn't have all day for them, so she went straight to the bookshelf, which had only white covers.
"How did she know which one it was? If there were two black-covered books, how would she know which one?" I asked Virgo while agreeing on the plan, even though I was secretly worried I might mess it up.
"I once went into that room, pretending to ask for advice about my future after graduation," the young man said. "While he was preparing tea, I saw a large bookshelf filled with light brown covered books, but only the black cover stood out prominently. When I picked it up, I knew it was the one I needed, and if you truly love me, you should know which one it is."
Believe me... it was exactly as he said. The entire shelf, reaching the ceiling, was packed with light brown covered books, but there was only one with a black cover. She easily picked it out and saw the words on the cover written in glowing silver ink:
'Grimoire of Demonic Sealing'
Just then, the words of her beloved Virgo echoed in her head.
"If you can bring it to me, I will accept your love and marry you."
